1st Trimester

worried...2nd pregnancy

Hi all!
I just found out over the weekend that I am pregnant with my second child! I only was off the BCP for less than a month but took a pregnancy test because I wasn't feeling well. I was very, very, sick...throwing up everywhere...TMI but important to know. Test came back positive. On monday, I felt totally fine. Nothing. Im eating anything I want and everything is staying down. I don't think Im very far along (but I'm not sure since a current change in my BCP messed my cycle up).

I called my dr and they said they cant get me in until August 12th which feels so far away. I'm worried something already has happened to this baby...

Is it possible I miscarried since I feel no symptoms after being so sick? I was going to take another test to see, but after reading on it, a miscarriage will still show as pregnant weeks after it happens.

TIA

Re: worried...2nd pregnancy

  • Symptoms come and go. Day to day. Week to week. Doesn't mean anything. Every women is different. Every pregnancy is different.
You may develop some symptoms. All or none.

Enjoy the days you feel good :) tomorrow might be different.

  • Thank you for the encouraging words!!

With my first, as soon as I was seeing symptoms, they never went way.

This is so different! Just need to relax... :)

  • I feel the same way. I am only 6 weeks pregnant according to my dr. but i think i am earlier. I get nervous when the symptoms go away because my last pregnancy miscarried at 6-8 weeks. We were trying for a year, got pregnant, miscarried, and now i am pregnant within the first month of miscarrying. It simply makes me nervous! I have heard that the chances of miscarrying again are slim, thoughts?
  • You're probably fine, Honey!  My 1st & 2nd pregnancies were completely different in almost every way.  Just keep being healthy like you probably already are and relax as much as you can.  Stress levels count!  And, if you're truly concerned, call your doctor, explain what's on your mind and maybe they can squeeze you in earlier.  If they just dismiss your concerns, then I'd seek another physician.
  • @RachaelGass47 From all my reading most women are actually very likely to get pregnant right after a miscarriage.  Something about your hormones already being primed for pregnancy.  I've known many people who have had sucessful pregnancies right after a miscarriage.  My mother is included in that number.

I don't know about the odds of miscarrying agin but I do know you just have to take it one day at a time.  I was terrified for the first 12 weeks of my pregnancy (I'm at 15 weeks now, so not too far along) but about all you can do is take care of yourself and try and find a way to take your mind off the worry (I know, crappy advice considering it is pretty much impossible to get it off your mind).

    *hugs* and Congrats!
