1st Trimester

Is this normal? (Might be kind of gross)

Hey Everyone,
I will be 4 weeks tomorrow with my period due tomorrow. I got a BFP for the last several days, including this morning.
This afternoon I noticed some light brown staining on the toilet paper and I have been having some very mild cramping. I also have been having some backaches like when I am getting ready to start my period. The nurse said the spotting and cramping is normal as long as the blood isn't heavy/bright red and the pain isn't severe. She said the backache isn't as common so I should come in for an exam.
Has anyone had these symptoms?
Thanks!

Re: Is this normal? (Might be kind of gross)

  • Most people do at some point. Randomly. After sex. After strenuous activity. I did at 5 weeks. No biggie.

As long as it's not bright red it's fine. And no major cramping.

FYI. That is not tmi. There are more unpleasant occurrences you will experience. As long as there's no picture were good.

Yes, had that at 6 weeks, all is well now though. Brown blood is considered 'old' blood according to my Dr.

  • Update:
Thanks ladies. He did an ultrasound and said the cervix is closed and lining is thick. He also said there was no visible sac but also probably too early. He did an HcG and progesterone today and will do another on Wednesday. He said he also can't rule out an ectopic at this point, so I should go to the hospital if I have terrible pain. Awesome.

The terrifying news is that because I used fertility drugs to conceive, I have a HUGE cyst on my ovary. He said it could rupture (awesome) or that my ovary could twist and I could lose the ovary. Best part: there is nothing I can do about it. I just have to wait and see. I am trying to stay positive but it is hard.

Thanks for the support everyone. It is appreciated.
