I am not positive if they are definitely called canopies but I am referring to those cloth sheets that go over the baby carriers. I have a chance to order one for free(just pay shipping) but was wondering how much you really used yours. Are they meant to shield baby from sun? I picture baby getting hot underneath. Are they better in cooler weather climates? Just trying to see if its worth it to get one or if its going to be another item "I barely use"
We use ours some, but not as much as i thought we would. my parents live on the beach and so its nice that it doesn't blow off with the breeze off the water like a blanket would.
I use an Aden and Anais muslin swaddle blanket. Just make a small knot at each of the ends and it stays on. Plus the fabric is super breathable so LO won't overheat. I've even used it this way on our boat and it works great- doesn't blow off.
My DH works odd hours so I had DS out in public at a very young age. Some people thought it was acceptable to walk up and touch a stranger's newborn so I used mine constantly for a while! No more unwanted touching!
