Newbie waiting for period (2 months) to start TTC

Hi There! Thought I would introduce myself since I am new here and see if anyone has experienced what I am with tricky periods. I'm a teacher in Michigan, ready to start TTC. My husband and I knew we wanted to start TTC around mid-late summer. I stopped my nuvaring in March, hoping that my body would regulate itself over the next few months. Had AF in March, April, and May. All 36-37 days apart. June and July have rolled around with no AF. I'm really frustrated because I want to start TTC, but it is difficult to know if/when I'm even ovulating. I've taken 5 pregnancy tests, all BFN. Hoping to get some answers from my doctor in 2 weeks. In the meantime, I lurk The Bump and just increase my baby fever! :)

  • It has been 65 days without a period. Thank you for the links, I have read all of those previously. I called my doctor and explained everything and she told me to come in and they could figure out what's going on (ie maybe I'm not ovulating) I have read a lot about temping. I thought I had to start with a "new month/cycle" though (after a period ends).

  • Try the ovulation tests? I'm anticipating the same problem, so let me know what you decide :)

Then a doctors appointment is definitely important! It would make sense to start with the new cycle. However, it is good to get into the routine now. Ya know?

  • The advice you'e gotten so far is great. I just wanted to add that you can start temping mid-cycle and benefit from it. My first cycle off BCP was 57 days long. I saw signs of ovulation on CD 13 (EWCM, cramping near my ovaries, etc.) so I assumed that I was in my TWW, but did not get a period. So after several negative HPTs, I started temping on CD 30. I had four patches of EWCM total that cycle before I actually O'd on CD 46. If I had not started temping mid-cycle, I would not have seen that I DID ovulate, it was just very late. I can't fathom the depth of crazy that cycle would have sent me to if I hadn't seen my temp shift.

Even if you don't see a temp shift this cycle, getting into the habit is always a good idea.
