39W4D - Contractions comes and goes?

This is my 3rd pg and I have never experienced this type of labor before!  I had my last check-up 6 days ago and Dr said I was already 3cm dilated and I had a bloody show after the examination.   Since then, I've had what I thought was active contractions for blocks of hrs...it would go on for 2-5hrs and then it would COMPLETELY STOP and continue again after half a day to several days!  It's so frustrating!  With my other two pg, my kids came 1-2 weeks early and contractions were normal...it slowly progress and eventually led to delivery (no looong contraction breaks in btwn).  

Anyone experience this before?  Did you also have bloody show?  How many cm were you when you actually went into real labor??

I had this happen to me this pregnancy which ended up being preterm labor at 36w5d. I had bloody show the next day. I then went to deliver a week and a half later at 38w2d.Good luck! It's super frustrating....
