Pregnancy pains?

Is it normal to have a tightening feeling as if a muscle was torn in my abdominal area?
I realize I'm pregnant so I don't need to be told it's because I'm pregnant. Please just let me know if this is normal or not. I haven't seen my ob and won't until 7/22/14. It's painful for me to move, cough, sneeze, walk or stand. I've just literally been laying in bed all day today and yesterday.

Re: Pregnancy pains?

  • It could just be growing pains but I would call the OB or the nurse just to ask. I get sharp pains too and when I described them to the DR she said it was just the uterus growing and expanding. It doesn't hurt to call and ask. I'm sure they have heard worse questions.

  • Yea, sounds like it could be Round Ligament Pain. It sucks but is totally normal. Like the PP said, if you're concerned, just call your doctor. They're there to help you! :)

  • I was having weird pains yesterday so I called my doctor.  They suggested I stay in the ac with my feet up and drinking lots of water.  I'm working from home today but since I got home yesterday and layed down I am feeling better.  Is it possible you are a little dehydrated?

  • I've had pains like round ligament pains and gas pains. My motto is, when in doubt get it checked out. It's probably just what I have experienced but giving a call to your doctor is always a good idea.

This. I had no idea how much water I needed. My ob said 100 oz/day. That's like two of the huge Evians. It's almost a chore but I guarantee it will help you feel better, even if it doesn't provide complete relief.

  • I get sharp stabbing pain every now and then as well. It usually happens when I move or shift too quickly and lasted about 30 secs. I just think it is round ligament pain.

I'm definitely feeling like this. In the beginning it hurt if I sneezed or coughed but as time goes on it feels almost bruised all across the bikini line. Every time I stand up I am almost doubled over for a few seconds after and the pain will slowly fade. Occassionally it'll only ease a little and then walking hurts even worse. So not fun.

It sucks but I assume it's RLP.
