My fffc is that I have no idea why everyone suddenly started saying #fuckaroundgurl. It makes me lol a little, but I always feel like I am missing part of the joke.

The first time I saw it was on the slut/number of partners post. I could be missing something.
I think first saw it a week or two ago. :-??

I have Skye's 9 month appt AND Owen's year year appt at the same time thinking kill two birds with one stone. WTAF was I thinking!?!? FFFC: I'm stupid.

At least she won't get shots!
Do they not do shots at 9 months? I called the office asking, and the receptionist didn't know, but didn't think they did...but all my friends said they do...
We got two vaccines at LO's 9 month appt. So maybe it varies by doctor?

  • I've been a huge brat towards DH lately.  He didn't do anything particularly wrong, but I am just so frustrated with tons of things and his jobs takes him away for 6 days at a time. I've been overly emotional about the stupidest things, but I just don't feel like myself lately.  So my confession is I'm feeling crappy and creating issues where there are none.  I need a vacation.

I just bribed dd to come out of the dog kennel room (4 kennels for when we aren't home and the weather is not good for them to be outside) by shaking the box of mini nilla wafers. She likes going in there to shake the doors to hear the noise...and try to eat the dog food.

The pic is her chewing on the dog bone. She loves it. The dog does not. image

    Not exploding. More like...

And @Phalaenopsis‌, can you provide a source for your assertion that baby talk helps babies learn language? This may be an issue of defining "baby talk", but as your statement stands, I disagree. I'd be happy to provide books for reference.

To lc# Baby talk aka motherese is a thing, there are lots of studies on the universality of it and how babies prefer it. I learned about it in liguistic anthropology. Im not googling sources bc I don't feel like it.
This. I thought this was fairly common knowledge among parents. I'm a little surprised that LC#s questioned it...

    I also didn't get the #fuckaround reference. Glad I didn't miss something, because I thought I did.

Is that the way it is on the island? I know some bumpies are giving you grief but I can relate if that's normal where you're living. In Canada (or at least Calgary) you have the 6 month appointment and then not another until 12 months.

So a four month wait like your on is nothing to the 6 month one here. I'm voluntarily making a 9 month one because I want one between 6 and 12 months.

  • Someone has been stealing sandwiches from the refrigerator at work. I made a nice sandwich and hid a layer of the hottest hot sauce I could find. No takers yet...

Someone use to do this at my work but they would just take a bite out of things and put it back.. Gross !!

I called my doctor this morning to get my IUD out. I swear it's just messing with me and I'm done. His next appointment isn't until September. :-/

that's scary! how do you think it is messing with you if you don't mind me asking? I was having some pressure with mine but idk it went away...if it comes back I'm going to call the doctor. Can you see someone else in the office?
It's hard to say if it's my IUD or if it's still PP stuff but I just don't feel like myself. I'm uninterested in doing things I normally love. I don't feel interested in sex at all which is not like me. My skin and hair sucks. I just feel out of whack. I'm just ready to get the thing out of me and see if anything changes.

That sounds like complaints I heard from patients when I worked in women's health. Unfortunately, I never heard if their symptoms resolved once the IUD was removed.

I don't think anyone was giving her grief.

This. I wasn't trying to give her a hard time. I thought @pharmtechmom1216's suggestion to have her husband take care of it was a good idea. She seems like she is pretty overwhelmed with other things right now and maybe it didn't occur to her to ask for help. I know in my house, there are certain things that dh just doesn't think to do unless I ask. Doctor's appointments are one of those things.

Okay, that makes sense. I just thought maybe that was kind of the norm like it is here, so that there maybe was another reason behind it. But I get what you're saying.

@trackgirlparis‌ I was told that we did not need a 9 month visit either. Her next appt isn't until her 1st birthday.

@txmom13‌, gif was for dog bone in baby mouth. Thought that seemed obvious.

@Phalaenopsis‌, @PinkDahLia44‌, @jgslr‌, @dknight413‌, this is why I said it depends on your definition of "baby talk". As @dknight413‌ cited, "motherese" or "parentese" is beneficial. It is also talked about at length in the book "SuperBaby" for anyone who is interested. It is more about the style in which you use words. Historically, (as in what your parents might consider it) "baby talk" was a simplification of language and using made-up words for common objects like "baba" instead of "bottle" and gitchy gitchy goo type expressions. The latter has been replaced by the former for those in the know. Then there are people who don't talk to their babies because the babies don't talk back, Lord help them.

TL;DR - those who commented about this actually all seem to be in agreement (of the concept if not the word choice).

@chelseyestelle those are also signs of hypothyroidism. I'm not sure how IUD's affect you, since I don't have one, but I know when my thyroid is wonky those are key symptoms fo rme. I also usually feel lethargic and cold. Perhaps when you see your doc you could have your doc check your thyroid levels, too.

Our bodies can be mysterious! I have hypothyroidism and I take meds for it but I had an ultrasound on them in February, and my doc referred me to an endo because there was a mass measuring a bit large. I kinda forgot to make that appointment but am finally going next Monday. Honestly every single one of those symptoms is how I am feeling right now, and add anxiety. My hair is driving my up a wall and my skin is super dry and I'm so sluggish and exhausted for no reason. I'm hoping the doctor will increase my meds because I think it'll help with these symptoms. If not it could be my Mirena. Def get your thyroid checked!

Okay, that makes sense. I just thought maybe that was kind of the norm like it is here, so that there maybe was another reason behind it. But I get what you're saying.
I was going to wait until we're in Denver in 2 weeks to do the "6 mo" visit and vaccines.  Her risk of exposure is low since she stays home with DH, and they don't have some of the infant vaccines here, so I thought it'd be better to wait.

But then I found out 2 weeks ago her Obamacare insurance won't cover routine care outside of Ohio since that's the exchange her policy was bought on.  Since her first pedi visit and vaccines were $800, I'm not thinking that's such a good idea any more.

New plan: do the "6 mo" ones here at 9 mo and the "12 mo" ones in the US on my new insurance at 15 mo.  I should have DH do it, but I'm hung up on mommy guilt over not being able to nurse her after her vaccine :(

tl;dr I didn't mean to wait so long and now I have mommy guilt.
