Trying to Get Pregnant

Post-Paragard Question

I am getting my Paragard out in a few months and am wondering if there are any women who can tell me if there was a change in their cycle at all after removal. Flow, Days, Length and whatnot. Since there are no hormones in it I have been tracking my cycle so I have an idea of what we are dealing with when it comes time to TTC. We want to give my body a few months break of having my uterus occupied by something/someone before we try! So I just am wondering if there are any changes to expect.

Thanks!

Re: Post-Paragard Question

  • So, did you have a heavier flow with the paragard than with out it? I am also wondering if the flow will stay as heavy once I remove it or if it goes back to "normal". Pre IUD my periods were very light and manageable. Having the Paragard made them heavier and more cramps for me. I have had mine for about 4 yrs also

  • I had my Paraguard out last May, and never noticed any significant changes. My flow seemed similar, same length of flow/period (roughly).

I had my Paragard removed in January. When I had it, my cycles were 8-9 days and super heavy. Beginning the month after my cycles went to three days and were much lighter. When I had the Paragard, my cycles were always 28-29 days and afterward they went to 31-34 days. I conceived during my third cycle after removal.

  • OK, I am hoping that will be the same for me. I have enjoyed the non-hormonal BC but the side effects of heavier periods and more cramps are things I will be happy to see go!
    Thanks for the input Ladies!
    Good Luck!
