I was told yesterday that I had a blighted ovum, at my first visit, I am/was almost ten weeks, and have begun miscarriage today. About how long should it take until it's over? May I continue to finish out my prenatals?I have never had a miscarriage, and don't really know what to expect, and google really does not help. Any advice, anything that helps? I heard a heating pad helps with cramps. Thank you
I'm sorry for your loss. As for how long it will take that can vary from person to person and I would expect cramping but the severity also varies for everyone. I would keep taking your prenatal vitamins. Do you have a follow up scheduled with your doctor to recheck your levels and make sure the miscarriage is complete? I wish I could give you more concrete answers.

I'm sorry for your loss. Unfortunately there's no way to know how long or how bad it might be. It's different for everyone. The heading pad is a good idea, and Aleeve or Tylenol or something might help as well.
As for the prenatals, definitely keep taking them. According to my old doctor, every woman of child bearing age should be taking them.
Son: Jackson, 11/02/06, stillborn due to PPROM and IUGR. Over the next ten years we had 9 miscarriages from 8-14 weeks. On May 18, 2016 my daughter, Ridley, was born. We're OADNBC.
I don't have much to add but just wanted to say I'm sorry for your loss. I would echo the recommendation of the heating pad and Advil or Tylenol as those did help me. And as far as the prenatals, I've actually been taking them for several years now and my dr has recommended I take those or a multi vitamin at the minimum.
I also echo the sentiment that it's different for everyone. I was administered misoprostal on Monday and I am still bleeding out clots and such. It's quite gross, I know. I am no longer cramping, and my cramping only lasted about 24 hours or less. The heating pad was a life saver for me!!!
