PSA Graco Car Seat Recall

For infant seats, it looks to be just the SnugRide models...there's a bunch for the toddler seats.

Re: PSA Graco Car Seat Recall

  • It looks like it's just the buckle sticking cuz it gets dirty. They include cleaning directions if it's sticking while waiting for the replacement part to come in.

But I will def be looking at my carseat later.

Yes. It looks like this is the same recall they had for their transition seats a couple months ago. The buckle gets dirty and hard to unbuckle over time. With that first recall they stated that they were not recalling the infant seats because the buckets can detached from the base so you can get your kid out of your car easily in an emergency.

I demanded a new buckle for my infant seat anyway because my infant seat is the Click Connect 40.... designed to fit a kid up to 40lbs and I basically used it as a transition seat after 6 months because the bucket was too difficult to remove from the base with DS still in it... let alone in an emergency. They sent me a new buckle without any hassle. Looks like enough other people wanted replacement buckles for their infant seats to convince them to recall them too.

There's nothing immediately dangerous about the seat, you just need to contact Graco to get a new better replacement buckle.

  • Also I want to point out that by optional, Graco is saying that they decided to do the recall and that they were not forced. Once they issue a recall for whatever reason, they really want all affected parties to do the switch. Optional was for them, not us.

  • If your seat was just purchased, it should already have the new buckles. My new snugride has the new set but my 2010 I ordered a few months ago. I also 'liked' a Facebook page called car seats for the littles that has some good q&a to licensed car seat technicians. They answer your questions and give recommendations about seats and safety in the car. It's been very helpful but at times it overloads your newsfeed so beware. It's good info though. I've had a couple of questions answered about how to puzzle my seats together in the middle of my Durango.
  • If your in an accident, it's best to remove the whole seat with baby in it. My ex hubby was a firefighter and that's one thing I remember. Unless things have changed.....
