Leyton William: Born at 5:56 am, Friday, June 27th. 8 lbs, 4 oz, 19.5 inches
So I didn't really know if I was gonna post our story since I haven't been real active on here, but I remember reading all of your birth stories and feeling so comforted by everyone's varying stories. It made me feel that no matter what happens, it happens for a reason. You all gave me a lot of strength to get through my own labor. So thank you all! Here is ours, and hopefully it will help give another mother out there strength
We went in for our last appt on Thursday. We knew we would be having a pretty large baby, and our dr was a little concerned, so she wanted to induce us a little early. She said he's just going to get bigger, and all our vitals were great now. If we waited, it'd only be a harder labor. So we went to L & D right after our appt.
I was 0 cm and 50% effaced. She said she'd start me on Cervadil, to get everything thinning. She told us it'd take probably 12 hrs, since I hadn't made much progress on my own. So we buckled down for the night.
I was having crampy contractions 4 min apart right off the bat. Nothing serious, pain level about 4. Then shortly after, I started having what felt like very very sharp poop/gas pains. Those came about every 3 min. They asked what my pain level was, and I so since I thought surely this was still pretty early labor, I should leave room on the pain scale for when it'd get even worse. I said I was at a 6 ish, but in hindsight I was at an 8. We realized this when the first dose of morphine did nothing, and the second dose they gave me a little early wore off fast.
So all of this was about 6 hours into the Cervadil. The dr decided it was time to check me, and low and behold I was in so much pain bc I'd made a ton of progress. I was 6 cm. I wanted the Epideral, so she called the anesthesiologist right away. The epi went in, with no complications (if always been afraid of it, but it seriously was nothing. Totally worth it).
So that started kicking in about 10 min later. But I still was feeling massive pressure in my left hip and rectum. On top of that, the contractions were causing the baby's heart to slow dramatically. The dr said when she broke my water shortly after the epi, that not much fluid came out. She said all of this told her there was a cord somewhere it shouldn't be. She kept saying we were prob going to need a caesarean. So when I had told her about my rectal pressure, she decided to check me. Ya. I was fully dilated and "the baby is practically on the bed." She said I could probably get him out in 2 pushes lol.
So everyone rushed in. She said speed was of the essence, since there was a cord involved. I gave 8 pushes through 2 contractions, and there he was! The most beautiful boy
She stitched me up (had a small tear). Then we loved on baby Leyton nonstop. He was/is healthy and strong! The recovery has been very uncomfortable, but totally worth it ❤️
