Has anyone taken Medrol before?

I was just going over some of my IVF info and I have a script for Medrol. I believe it is to be taken after ET but I don't remember for sure. There was so much that the nurse went over and she said that they would tell me all of it again as we went through each step, so I didn't focus on some of the later steps. She never explained what it was for. I googled quick and it looks like it is a steroid used to suppress the immune system. I'm guessing this is to help with implantation?

Just wondering if this has been used in anyone else's protocol and what your experience might have been.

ETA: My instruction sheet says that I start it the day of ER and continue for three days after.

I kinda had the impression that pretty much everyone took Medrol around ER/ET. Is that not true? It's hard to know if there were any side effects from it because your body is completely crazed at that point, but I didn't notice anything that I would attribute to that med in particular.

I also took Medrol starting day of ER. I was supposed to take it for 4 days. Everyone is different, but I had a terrible reaction to the medication. It caused me so much upper stomach pain that I could barely walk around and lost 3 lbs after ER in 2 days because I literally could not eat. I was on the highest dose possible so idk if that was the reason or if I just have a reaction to it.

I actually thought it was OHSS for about a day, until I realized that every night after I took it the pain was intensified.

This was probably just my body's reaction and you will be just fine. Good luck!

@tarala‌ - My dose is 4 mg per day.

I took it starting the day of retrieval for both of my IVFs and had no side effects. I have pretty bad asthma and I've taken it in super high doses for up to ten day and still had no side effects. Like @pblge‌ said I think it's a standard part of any protocol.

This is my 5th IVF, and the only one where Medrol was prescribed. I am on 16mg/day, for 7 days, starting on the day of ER. Warning: it is severely bitter! Swallow it fast and have something with a strong flavor ready to eat afterwards. My mouth literally stays bitter for at least an hour after I swallow it, and I have bitter burps afterwards. My RE has not done an acceptable level of explaining my meds, so it's all very frustrating to me.

Was just about to post it tastes GROSS- take with lots of water. I took it for five days prior to transfer with my doxy. I got pretty nauseous, but it could have been the doxy. All in all, not horrible.

Thanks everyone. I hadn't seen anyone mention it before, so I wasn't sure if it was standard or not. There was no explanation of what it was or was for when we did our IVF teaching. It was just basically here's another script to fill and another med to take.
