Lets give this a second go, I had written 90% of this in the morning then got caught up with family and nurses/drs coming in and out lol and usually TB saves a draft smh.
well some of you may have already read some of the birth story from my labor buddy @dal2aus
Last night I woke up to dull constant lower back pain that kept getting progressively worse over the course of 2 hours, after that 2 hours I began to have a heavy pressure feeling in my lower abdomen, but no cramps, no bleeding and no real pain in that area, not even BH contractions, just my back. Called 24 on call nurse, she said I should go to L&D and get monitored just in case. At this point is was around 3:30 am and as irony would have it, DH was working an OT night shift lol. Got a hold of him told him what was going on, and the fact that I was just more anxious to get piece of mind that they're ok, as opposed to complaining about my discomfort. So he came, we got to the hospital around 5 am, was hooked up to monitors within 5 minutes and had a cervical check and that's when the nurse said I was 100% effaced at -1 and 2 cm dilated with baby A's water bag bulging out.
I was then placed on steroids, antibiotics, and magnesium. I told the on call OB that my OB was going to check my CBC next week because i had some borderline low hemoglobin and high white cell count. Labs drew blood, but drs initial plan was to keep me on meds to prevent labor for as long as possible.
FFWD to the results, came back with rly high white cell count, MFM who was there urged me to get an amnio, we agreed, and an hour later we got the results that tested positive for an infection in baby As amniotic fluid and recommended a c section that afternoon.
Got prepped and at 4:43 pm Friday June 27th baby A - Dalia 2lb 14 oz & 17 in baby B - Abdullah 2 lb 11 oz & 16.1 in were born within seconds of each other at 30 weeks and 2 days.
Both came out crying which led me to burst into tears of joy finally hearing those cries after 4.5 yrs of infertility. It was the most amazing feeling.
They were both placed on a cpap machine to help breathing and given meds to strengthen their lungs as well as antibiotics to ward off any infection that could have spread, but so far all the bloodwork has come back normal!
They're doing even better today, oxygen levels are in the 90s and they will get their first milk feeding tonight and if all keeps going well they could be off the cpap machine within a few days.
They still have a long road ahead of growing and getting stronger but all of our drs are anticipating great milestones in the weeks to come.
And im feeling ok, first day I was just numb and today im experiencing mild pain from the incision, nothing too bad. But they are still monitoring my hemoglobin which dropped even lower to 7.4 and white cell count elevated to I think 26. Im just on iron and antibiotics at the moment and the nurses said if L&D isnt busy, I can stay a full week to stay close to my babies and while they're in the NICU I can focus on recovering and kicking my milk supply into high gear with pumping.
Thank you all again for your well wishes and T&P ..I'll keep u all posted.
Trying to add a pic but TB isnt letting me wahhh. I'll figure out a way.
