Registry Qs (a shower for ME? is this real life?)

First the AW part: I got the invite to my OWN BABY SHOWER in the mail this week. What a surreal moment! I've been to so many over the years (well.. not this past year.. I mostly didn't go to those) and bought so many presents, but this one is for ME. How weird is that?!?

Even weirder, I checked our two registries today and people have actually bought stuff! I know that's like, the purpose, but it is still just the strangest thing to me. I just can't believe this is for me.

Okay now the actual question- is it wrong for me to creep on the registry and see what people have bought? Should I just wait and be surprised at the shower? I checked my registry constantly before my wedding (11 years ago...) and it did take away some of the surprise. or is it more responsible to keep checking so I can add stuff at different price points as needed? What's the etiquette here?

5/27/2014: Team purple!!!!  EDD 10/10/2014 / 
Delivered by c-section at 32w0d 8/15/2014 due to preeclampsia/HELLP syndrome

    I'm not sure on etiquette of baby showers really but I love surprises so I'll probably not look at it :-) and congrats! I feel like I'm in a dream too I mean my belly is actually getting bigger and I, yes I, have a baby bump! I couldn't even imagine this not long ago and now it's happening :-) even tho IF was the hardest thing I've ever been through, the feeling of appreciating every little moment is amazing!

               17 retrieved, 15 fert, 1 perfect blast trans, 10 frozen
                BFP--Ended-- Blighted Ovum
    FET#2 Tentative Sched: Start meds CD1=Feb 1, ET= Feb 19-20
              One Grade 4AA Blast transferred, 5dpt- BFP HPT, 6dpt- line darker
              Beta #1- 50, Beta #2- 30
              BFN- Chemical preg
    FET#3 CD1-4/11, start Injections on CD13, ET scheduled- 4/29
             CD12 u/s & bw- Lining 8.7, estrogen 335, cleared for ET in one week!
             CD19 ET- Two Grade 4AA Blast transferred one with assisted hatching
             4dpt- POAS = BFP!....POAS everyday after = DARKER! FX!
             Beta #1- 703!  Beta #2- 4,004! 
             First U/S, 5wk0d- TWO gest sacs, Both with yolk sacs and a fetal pole both measuring 3d ahead!

    It's a pretty amazing feeling to be the guest of honor at a baby shower, after attending multiple baby showers over the past years it's definitely surreal.

    As to the registry question, I'm checking ours because as a PP mentioned, some items may get discontinued.  It does take the surprise away a little bit, but I'm still surprised when then arrive in the mail.

    I loved the intro to this post!! :)  I am really happy for you and I sit in shock everyday that I am where I am. 

    As for checking the registry.. I say go for it and deny deny deny to anyone IRL that asks! lol.  That is what I would totally do.  I am sure you will still get several surprises since people will go off registry. :)  Have fun and I hope your shower is PERFECT!! You deserve it.

    I am with you, I'd check the registry. Heck our baby shower was cancelled and I still plan to check it up until LO gets here. I agree that things can be discontinued and I also have duplicates. Yay for your baby shower coming up and being the guest of honor!!
    Me 29 DH 30 Unexplained IF TTC since wedding May 2012. IUI #1 11/5/13-BFN.  IUI #2 12/5/13-BFN. IUI #3-12/30/14. All three with Femara CD 3-7 and Ovidrel trigger. +HPT 1/13/14 First +ever!!! Beta #1 195 Beta #2 1/15-533. Ultrasound on 2/4 showed one bean. EDD 9/22/14. Team Green turned Team Blue-Baby Conner arrived on 9/19/14.

    Yep I def stalked my registry. My BFF just had her shower last weekend and she def stalked hers too. I think it's pretty common but if asked I think people deny it.

    And that's so exciting about your shower coming up! Make sure someone takes lots of pics to document the day!

    OMG I will totally be stalking my registries!  I love it. I loved checking everyday for my wedding shower. I know, I'm a dork!  HA
    ***SIGGY WARNING***

    DX: Unexplained
    6 Failed IUIs (Clomid and Gonal F).  
    IVF #1 began August 2013- BC, 4 days of Estrace, stimmed with Gonal F and Menopur, Ganirelix, 9R 5M 5F, Medrol and Doxycycline, 5 day transfer of 2 early blastocysts- good quality, Progesterone, Estrace, and baby aspirin, BETA on 9/20 BFN,   IVF #2 began September 2013, stimming with Gonal F (higher dose) and Menopur, Ganirelix, 18R 14M 9F with ICSI, 5 day transfer of 2 BBs one was starting to hatch, 2 frosties: 1  BB and 1 AC, BETA on 10/21, BFN BETA was a 5- chemical 
    Getting some more testing and trying to figure out what the issue is before FET in December, started acupuncture on 11/10, RLP and some other BW nothing major to report except slightly high Prolactin. Prolactin was slightly high when I started with my RE and I already had an MRI which was Neg.  Endo biopsy=negative.  WTF is wrong with us???
    12/18/13 FET of 1 BB and 1 AC.  Hoping for a miracle.  Beta 12/26 Low BETA-8 2nd BETA 5- chemical
    After 3 failed transfers IDK where to go from here.  Still no real answers as to why this isn't working.  Getting a second opinion in February and looking into immune testing.  
    2/14- NEW RE- Immune testing showed a partial dq alpha match with DH- On prednisone and did intralipids prior to transfer.  3/14 Lupron, gonal f, menopur, HGH.  ER 15 mature all 15 fertilized!  5dt of an early blast grade 1 and an expanded blast grade 2.  BETA on 4/21.  1 grade 2 embryo frozen
    BETA #1 59 BETA #2 148 BETA #3 283 BETA #4 2,783! US at 6w2d shows 1 bean measuring right on track! HR 121.  US at 8w3d measuring on track HR 177. Released form my RE.  EDD 12/28
