Guise....I was able to BRAID Jae's hair! HOLY HAIR. I never thought I'd have to say I need to buy hair detangler for my SON :-O I think I've officially decided I'm not gonna cut next month.
@JStahl678, so do we have the same MIL?? I hate discussing anything about the boys' sleep with her--when we are at their house and she puts DS1 to bed, she will say something the next morning like "well, we were going to put him to bed but then he caught a 'second wind' and stayed up awhile"...uh, you had two kids--don't you know that when they start getting hyperactive around bedtime that means they are overtired and need to go down NOW??
@casey78 - they feel SO weird! I don't like it. Why is it happening... @Lwrightenator? Do you know? Anyone?
@Spartanmomma NOT THE ALIENS!!! . And so sorry about the anxiety. I hope it calms down for you soon. I agree about participating - you do what you can when you can. We all ebb and flow around here.
@LadyBlue07@LauraB1016@fabk Sorry about the ILs being difficult. What I don't get about that kind of behavior is how they can't see that they are making visiting them even MORE unpleasant. What's so hard about "If you want me to spend more time with you, BE NICER!"
Glad you are feeling better @mystererae - that sounded awful.
@COmama1314 - thinking of you and hoping for a more comfortable week!
@theblairwitch01 -Jadzia is adorable!!! My LO doesn't like the grass yet either so I had to chuckle at the towel. They are both so beautiful.
Good luck, @muirmaid with the job interviews AND the party prep!
@dinomama13 - omg, that hair! the braid!! It's gorgeous.
Also meant to add:
Sorry to all the mamas with fussy, non sleeping babies. Big hugs and coffee (or your beverage of choice).
I have discovered a pain more excruciating than stepping on a Lego. I was on the floor playing with Lily and I went to reach for something and I knelt on a wooden puzzle piece (the kind that has the plastic peg on it) and the peg went right into my kneecap. It was a pain that made me see stars, collapse on the floor and it hurt so bad it made me physically nauseated. Stupid fire truck puzzle.
My LO will only nap in the crib for 30 minute stretches when I put him down. Then, I end up rocking him and he'll sleep in my arms for at least an hour more. When my mil puts him down? He'll sleep an hour or so in the crib or 2-3 hours on her couch. Why won't he sleep alone for meeee?!
Sounds like your MIL and my MIL should swap places right now. She's striking out on the nap front and I'm scared I'm going to have an extremely cranky baby the rest of the day. I know how you feel though, I'm always jealous when anyone else gets a good long nap from DS and I can't.
@Spartanmama722 that sounds like an impossible schedule. No wonder you are irritable. Big hugs. You're doing a great job!
I need to poas in a week. We had a mishap and I don't know if it is the placebo effect but holy hell, I feel miserable and completely exhausted and terribly bloated. Really, it is probably from eating poorly, a summer sinus infection and not enough sleep.
@dinomama13 I am jealous! I think Lillie's is long enough but I could never get her to sit still to actually be able to do it! How did you get him to sit? I can't wait to start doing her hair, I love doing french braids!

For a week now, Alex has had a nap everyday. Sometimes in the car, a couple of times in the stroller, but also in the house. Some days its only 1 nap for 40 mins, other days its two naps about 40 mins each or longer.
This is the most days in a row he has napped in his whole life. I was actually able to transfer him off my lap today and he is still asleep.
Is this going to last? Or is he just teasing me?!?
Of course it also happens to be the day that I need to do some running around before my ILs get here. I hate to do this but I am going to have to wake him up!!!
We're at the ILs this week, and it's actually going ok. I think maybe because I've adopted a zen "it is what it is" philosophy to things for the next 4 days. It helps. Before, my MIL dunking my son in the water and acting like him coughing and choking is no big deal, would make me stabby and grab him back. Now, I just calmly picked him up, and shot death eyes at my dh. It works..... 3 more days.....
Luke still won't sleep without being held - we are getting desperate.
BUT - DH's birthday is in a couple weeks, and since Luke doesn't require anything too specialized at bedtime anymore I think my parents are going to come stay at our house and send us to a hotel for the night so we can have dinner out and then sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep <:-P

Mani pedi was a bad idea. They didn't do them simultaneously like they always do, and I got the slowest of slow slowpokes who also stopped to take 4 calls during the mani part. It is the chunkier French even. Blech. And now I'm stressing about rushed airport trip, so I can't letdown for the pump. Really don't want to have to try again in airport and then deal with the milk today. Visualizing rivers of milk...

My little Slurpee baby is 50 weeks old. I can't even believe she will be one in just two weeks. In some ways it feels like seven years ago since we were in the hospital having her and other ways it still feels like yesterday. So crazy to be a mom. :x
I bought the supplies and I am making this for my bathroom. But I am going to paint my jars to match some of the items in my bathroom. I am so excited, I had to share.
DD had her one year check up today. 3 shots and a poke in the finger. She did get a sucker. Shes still in about the 95-97% for height and just under 50% for weight.
It worked @eaglewife!! Well, kinda. I squeezed out enough to make even dc bottle and then booked it to airport. Splurging on terminal parking so I can have a soy latte for lunch.
And, there is no way your slurpee baby is 50 weeks old. Mine sure isn't. [-(
So guise, I'm still not on speaking terms with my co family. Do I bother sending an invite to lo's birthday? My mom told me to while we were talking. If I do, do I send one to her since I told her not to come when we got in the argument?
I missed your post about the argument with your family--sorry, mama Were they planning to come see you when your LO is born soon? Maybe it would be worth it to send the invite, kind of a bday "olive branch" of sorts? (Or, even if they can't make it, maybe they would like to have a copy of the invite, just to keep?) But I don't know the details about the argument, so I guess I can't say for sure

if you don't want to see them you could make those not invited some kind of 1st birthday announcement...pretty sure I have seen/heard of those.

Lol... Leah is most definitely not 50 weeks then. She's just a little 5 weeker.
( I'm sure my slurpee baby is still tiny!!! I was looking at her newborn pictures this morning....I can't believe it's almost a year!! But then I look at her trying to drink cottage cheese out of her bowl and think, yup, she's almost a year!!! Lol....
Went and toured a daycare this morning, now trying to decide between 2. The outdoor space isn't great but the bonus is they do after school care, so all 3 kids would be at the same site, one pick up a day, yes please!!!! Besides it will be for less than a year as we are considering the next baby to be a May/June baby......I'm going to finish my birth control this week.....I have looooong cycles so would like to get them regulated....maybe I will be announcing my pregnancy when I return to work in September....hmmmm, wonder how thst will go over?!?!
Posted on a local FB garage sale group I'm in. Any takers??
Yeahhh...worn one time too many I'd say.

I just sent off my resume for my first real grown-up job application. (first of many, I'm afraid....)
It's a huge long-shot because I am both under- and over-qualified, and I wasn't really planning on trying to land a job for several more months. But it was an opportunity I couldn't pass up, so I figured what the hell, I'll throw in for it.
This morning I was procrastinating and feeling like it was pointless and thinking about giving up and not even sending my materials. But after polishing my resume and cover letter and writing a personal statement detailing how I would approach the job and why I would be good at it, I feel pretty damn good. I would hire me. I am an excellent bullshitter

@Eaglewife, That was my thought. We went to the beach this afternoon and I didn't let him out of my sight. My MIL is annoyed I'm going to meet @ LadyBlue07 tomorrow, and I don't care at all. I'm super excited for my coffee date!!!
Lucas just unloaded on his changing pad while we were getting him ready for bed. It was maybe the biggest poop we've seen from him, and all in a neat pile on a blanket (we always keep a double layer of blankets on the changing pad for this very reason) so we weighed it, being sure to zero out the scale with an identical blanket.
It weighed 7oz.! SEVEN OUNCES. That's almost a half pound of poop, from a kid who only weighs 18lb.
If I did the math correctly, that's equivalent to a 150lb adult making a poop that weighs 3lb10oz.

What a difference a year makes. Last year at this time I was weeding after a 12 hour day at work. Why? Because apparently it was really important to me to have a weed free yard last year, even less than 12 hours before my water broke.
This year, I haven't touched any weeds in my yard. I have a kid to play with!
Re: Thursday SPAM is good summer reading
We could get into clubs for free if we showed the bouncer our thong. Skeeeeezy. But hey, I saved $10 not paying the door fee.
