1st Trimester

Flying during 1st Tri?

I have quite a few business trips scheduled in July and August.  They'll be day trips with an hour flight each way at most. I'm just now entering my 4th week.  Would you cancel? I haven't heard back from my doc.  TIA.

Why on earth would you cancel?  I flew to Switzerland 5 hours after my 6 week ultrasound and all my MFM did was tell me that he was jealous!  I've had at least 5 other trips since then, including long haul international flights, and my MFM had no issue period.

5 cycles of "TTC" - 3 intentional, 2 not so intentional.  5 BFPs.  My rainbow arrived 10/15/14.

  • Apparently my mobile is somehow still posting from my old acct, that TB had supposedly deleted... weird.

I heard  flying could be harmful to a developing fetus bc of air pressure in the cabin.. yadda yadda... OWT perhaps?? My MIL was a flight attendant for over 30 years she suffered 3 MC and swore it was due to flying. It wasn't until she was reassigned off the planes did she get her rainbow babies.  Anyone heard similar?

No, that's not true. You can fly.
    Agree with @Nicb13.

I'm a high risk pregnancy with a history of miscarriages.  My MFM is one of the top in the country and he has absolutely no concerns about the frequency or duration of my flights.

  • Search feature is awesome too, since there's been 3 or 4 threads exactly like this one lately. Just sayin.
I'm actually amazed by how often flying has come up over the last few days...  You would think it was 1940 and Pan Am & TWA were debuting their passenger jets.

I'm flying at 12 weeks and all my Ob told me was to sit on the aisle so I could get up easier for the bathroom and to walk/roll my ankles around to prevent clots.

I had 10 flights in a span of 2 weeks on a trip to China last month, including two 12 hour flights, during weeks 7-9 and everything is perfectly fine now at 13 weeks.
