So I'm 38 +5 today, and I've had PUPPP for about a week now. For those of you unfamiliar with PUPPP, it's the most miserable rash ever (times 100). I've had poison ivy, poison oak, head lice, chicken pox, etc, and this is worse than all of that combined. It's all over my arms, legs, abdomen and spreading by the minute. I spent 4+ hours crying today, because I'm so damn itchy.
I'm headed to the dermatologist tomorrow, as everything I've tried so far is doing nothing...oatmeal baths, baking soda, benadryl, hydrocortizone and then prescription strength hydrocortizone. From what I've read, there isn't much of a solution, except delivering the baby, and then some people still have it for weeks or months postpartum.
So my question for you second time moms is this. How awful is induction? I'm losing my mind right now, and it has been suggested that maybe induction is the best option. I think that option kind of sucks, but maybe not as I sink further into PUPPP depression hell...
Re: How awful is induction? I'm in PUPPP hell...
And Pit doesn't automatically mean you'll be stuck on your back. I was able to walk around, use the shower, bounce on the birth ball, etc., during my induction.
It took 2 doses of Cytotec, a Foley balloon catheter to dilate my cervix more, Pitocin and water breaking and 36 hours of labor for baby G to come out. Contractions weren't super awful until about 8 hours prior to delivery, and at that point I even had an epi, which either wore off or just sucked for me. I had it redosed twice, and almost a third time, but at that point I was 10 cm and ready to go.
