PR: really long naps

So DS1 just turned 2, and lately his naps have been really long. He's usually in daycare, and they limit them to about 2 hrs there. But on the weekends, he's been napping about three hours before I go in and wake him up. That's too long for a 2 year old, right? Should I be putting him to bed earlier if he's this tired? That would be tough for me as right now we don't get home until 6:15, so I usually need until his 7:30 bedtime to play, feed him, bathe him, and read to him. Thoughts?

  • I don't think a three hour nap is crazy for a 2 year old. I pray for three hour naps every day.

    +1

    Also jealous ;)

  • DS1 just turned 4 and he still takes 3+hr naps on the weekends. He goes to bed between 830-9 and wakes up around 8am. He just really likes his sleep! Its fantastic when I can get both boys to nap at the same time....3+hrs of just momma time. Ahhhhhhh heaven

  • My 2.5 year old takes a 3ish hour nap most days.

He usually wakes at 7, naps from about 1-4, and then goes to bed at 8.

He seems happy so I'm not inclined to change it.

  • Ok, good to hear I'm not wearing him out. He was taking 1.5 hr naps for awhile, so I thought that was more normal. I guess I'll just enjoy the peace and quiet!

  • WTF to the older kid naps.  I would kill for that!  DS1 (4) stopped napping around 2.5.  He'll "rest" at school and sometimes fall asleep but he won't nap at home.
