I know we have threads about good monitors, but DH and I are on a limited budget. How important is a video component? Anyone have any video monitors they can recommend that are less expensive? We registered for one that is $200.00, but are looking for something cheaper than that.
We did not purchase a video monitor for DS #1 or upcoming DS #2. Our first monitor (Sony BabyCall) was perfect and we would use it for DS #2 if I could find the receiver (I put it somewhere "safe" and now have no idea where that is). So we purchased a second audio monitor, Safety 1st, from BRU. We live really close to the Police/Fire department so we do not have a digital monitor, they tend to pick up the feed or get interference from the emergency services.
The huge benefit of a video monitor is being able to check in on your kiddo without cracking the door/getting out of bed/off the couch. We elected not to spend the money for the convenience - while sometimes I wished we had a video monitor, it hasn't been a problem and I don't miss not having one.
