Implantation Bleeding or Chemical Pregnancy?

Hello.  I got a BFP on Dec 30.  At that time I was 16dpo and my period was 4 days late.  I tested again the next morning and got a BFP then too. Today I started bleeding.  It came pretty suddenly and lasted for about 2 hours and was red.  I'm assuming that this is a chemical pregnancy but I guess wishful thinking is making me hope that maybe it's implantation bleeding.  There is no blood anymore.  Opinions?

Could be either of those, or it could be something else like a broken blood vessel.  Call your dr. asap.  Good luck to you!

Call you OB/GYN for a blood test to know for sure. Good luck, and try to be calm...but really, nobody's "opinion" is going to confirm anything for you. Bloodwork, however, will. Best wishes!

I just wanted to say good luck and I'm sending your little bean sticky dust.  I had bleeding at 6weeks and it wasn't related to the baby at all.  I would call your doctor.  They can do an early u/s and test your beta levels.  Good Luck!

I definitely recommend that you call your dr.  a little blood doesn't always mean it's over...make an appt.

I was under the impression that implantation spotting is usually pink or brown, now actual red blood.  It's really hard to say what you're experiencing though.  You could take another pg test and see if it's still positive.  Sometimes if it is a chemical pregnancy you will get a negative test after the positive ones, but not always depending on how much Hcg built up in your system.

No matter what you do, though, you should also call your doctor asap.  Good luck!

you can't get a BFP until after implantation occurs, but sometimes the blood can take awhile to make it's way out... more likely you are bleeding for another reason, but there are many other causes than a chemical pregnancy. give your doc a call.  and GL!

I actually had pretty bad bleeding after I got my BFP too.  I was very scared and just assumed it was a chemical pregnancy.  On day three of bleeding I took another pee on a stick test to make sure... and it said I was pregnant.  So I called my doctor and scheduled HCG blood work tests.  Turns out I was still pregnant... so don't loose hope.  Just call the doctor on Monday and try to take it easy until then.

I would call your dr.  I had a chemical pregnancy in September and it was very difficult.  A similar situation to yours it sounds like.  I didn't have that much bleeding (like a light period for two-three days).  Not even enough to soak through a pad.  Did you take another HPT?  When I took an HPT after the bleeding it was negative.
