1st Trimester

Crinone...TMI

Anyone else on Crinone?  OB put me on it after progesterone came back at a 12.  Anyway...I've been on it a few days and it's getting all clumpy in my lady parts.  So I googled and saw it suggested I could clean it out with a finger.  So I did a quick sweep and had a little light spotting in there...in addition to all the stupid clumps.  Anyone have this happen?  Does it irritate the vaginal wall or something?

  • Yes...crinone can cause some spotting.  The color of it alone can cause pinkish orange discharge.

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929

  • I have had to use it during the first trimester of both of my pregnancies.  It has a bio-adhesive component to it that helps it cling to the inner walls of your vagina. That is most likely the clumpy bits you are seeing. It falls off after a while and comes out as a white clump discharge.  I did nothing to help clean it out just regular wiping when I went to the bathroom and a good rinsing during showers.

It can irritate the cervix and look a little pink/dark brown instead of white.

  • I was on it for 12 weeks with my first pregnancy. For my first appt at 6 weeks 5 days I had a pelvic exam Andy on til out huge clumps of it. It was disgusting. I also researched and saw this you should sweep out excess and I did that. But apparently I didn't get it all. I was so embarrassed. But nothing I coulda helped.
  • Thanks ladies!  I appreciate your feedback.  I figured it was normal but wanted to hear other's experiences. Anyone know if you can still have sex on crinone?

I'm almost 8 weeks and on Crinone as well. I had read many women 'cleaning out' the clumps - but confirmed with my Dr (and nurse) before doing and they said absolutely not! That it's intended to cling to the vaginal walls. That some will discharge naturally when using the restroom and that's fine, but to not physically remove myself. Just an FYI - all dr's are different and have different protocols - so just check first before taking online advice. We were also told no intercourse while on it, because it will disrupt the adherence of the Crinone and cause spotting. Again, talk with your Dr - they may have different thoughts on this. Good luck!
