I invited about 50 people to Owens party. I'm not really doing a theme, just an ocean theme cake and plates, napkins, and cups will be sold colors.

I originally was planning on doing a BBQ, hot dogs, hamburgers, brats. Along with side dishes like a noodle salad. Potato salad, chips, fruit and veggie tray. For drinks I was thinking soda and a punch.
I am having the party at my grandma's house, but then I got to thinking about the weather and if a bbq would be good. I live in Washington State. So it rains frequently.

Now I'm needing a back up meal plan if
the weather doesn't Cooperate.

What did you, or do you have planned for the menu at your lo party?

    Fruit tray and veggie tray

Texas BBQ: brisket, chicken, sausage, sauce, coleslaw, potato salad, ranch beans (catered from Longoria's, they make their sausage out of brisket)

Wine, beer, pink lemonade and iced tea.

Chocolate flecked cake with milk chocolate frosting and bluebell vanilla ice cream. DH is baking the cake and making a mini version for B.

  • We are having it at a park since we are moving the next week. I wanted just to do a BBQ except I don't want my husband at the grill the whole time missing the party. I'm now thinking sandwiches or make your own sandwich plus salads chips ect
  • Were having BBQ and sides as well. The weather here is terrible more days than it is nice, so I'm just hoping for the best. Worst case scenario my husband will just put the BBQ in the garage and do it there. Were only having family here (grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins), so I'm not too stressed either way. We may also deep fry a turkey, so all my foods need the weather gods to cooperate.

  • DH was going to BBQ but my sister's wedding is the night before and they are serving BBQ at the wedding so we switched and are have it catered by a local Mexican food restaurant. We are having the party at my parents since all our family will be in town for the wedding so catering helps with time and stress lol

  • We're doing a BBQ. My dad and FIL will grill in any weather.
  • We're just doing appetizers because we have limited seating at our house and didnt want to serve a big meal so we're having: stuffed mushrooms, wings, cheese/crackers/meat tray, bruschetta (my SO's family is italian I dont think Ive been to one family event where there wasnt bruschetta), some kind of salad I havent figured out what and spinach and artichoke bites (found the recipe on pinterest like a year or so ago and I make them for every event, they are so yummy). And veggies/dip and fruit of course.

And Im making a mini cake for DD and cupcakes for everyone else.

  • I'm making: homemade pulled pork BBQ, coleslaw, tomato feta pasta salad, corn and black bean salsa, baked beans, and will probably have some sort of fruit tray and cheese tray. We are also having strawberry cake.

For drinks, we'll keep it simple with some sweet tea, pink lemonade, and some wine and beer.

    @melOHdy‌ Tada! https://parkhouselove.com/2012/04/09/spinach-artichoke-bites/

It says that it makes four dozen which seems like a lot but you use mini muffin trays and you end up wanting like ten to yourself so it works out.

Your menu sounds amazing. My mom is from Mexico so I grew up eating mexican all of the time and I cook it a lot now. I would love to do a mexican food themed party for the boys' parties but dh's family never eats it and my mil thinks that a nacho plate (like what you can eat at tgi Fridays) is authentic mexican. They would turn up their noses to flautas, tamales or chile rellenos.

We just had our party.  We had it outside for about 60 people.  We set up some 8ft tables in the backyard under the tree and set up our food on the deck.

Here is a link to all the pictures:

We had sliders, chips, frozen fruit and mini cupcakes.  It worked out great and it wasn't too much hassle.  We did the cupcakes the day before as well as made the patties.  MIL made the frozen fruit.

We are also doing hamburgers, hotdogs, chips. Carmel corn and peanuts too since it's a circus theme. I think I might add some pasta salad and baked beans to that now that I've read these menus.
  • We did pulled pork sliders, grilled hotdogs, cole slaw, potato salad, chips, layer dip, cheese tray, fruit tray, lemonade, water, and of course the obligatory cake and ice cream.
