Pregnant after a Loss

Cramping every day since implantation...

I feel like this must be normal, since it's been happening for essentially a month, but I was hoping to get some reassurance.  I started having cramps basically around implantation (although I thought it was ovulation cramps because my cycle is so unpredictable) and have been cramping on and off, but really every day, and sometimes pretty intensely, ever since.  I'm 6w2d and I saw the heartbeat on Monday, so it seems like everything is fine, but the cramping reminds me of my miscarriage and is making me pretty anxious.

Did other people cramp so much in the first trimester?  My doctor doesn't seem concerned, since there's no bleeding and we saw a heartbeat, but doesn't it seem like kind of a bad sign?

Re: Cramping every day since implantation...

  • I've been pretty crampy since implantation too, and even off and on spotting. It's super nerve wracking, and we went to the ER once just be sure everything was ok. We heard the heartbeat a few days back at our first appointment, another reassurance.

Just try to relax and not worry. Wow that sounds like the dumbest advice ever, but it's exactly what I tell myself every day. Worry isn't going to help (or hurt) the situation.

Thinking of you big time, I know it's super hard. <3

I had light to moderate cramping throughout the first tri, which transformed into a "my vagina is falling out" sensation for second tri, and is now transitioning into a "kicked in the crotch a few days ago" feeling now that we're heading into 3rd tri...  Yay Pregnancy!!! lol

ETA: I know this is super scary for you right now, and I didn't mean for this to sound as flippant as it did when I reread it after posting.  First tri was terrifying for me too.  I'll be sending T&Ps for you and your LO.

    All ALers welcome!
  • I'm sorry I don't have much advice because I've never been much of a cramper, but I did have spotting in week 6 and was told, similarly, that since it wasn't bright red and accompanied by cramping I should be fine. Hoping you're just on the other end of that, since you're cramping but experiencing no spotting. How bad are the cramps? FX everything is fine!
  • I had a "crampy" feeling for the first few weeks after I found out I was pregnant, and everything's been fine so far :)
  • I know it's a scary feeling, but I too had a light crampy feeling through most of first tri.  For me it let up between 10-12 weeks but now is more aches and twinges.  I've talked to my doctor about all the various scary feelings I've had so far multiple times, most recently on Tuesday.  My doctor told me it's all just your body changing to accommodate the growing baby and the feelings change as baby gets bigger.  :)

  • Thank you all for the reassurance.  I needed to hear it.

The really crazy thing is that as soon as I've convinced myself the cramping is super normal, I get worried if I'm NOT cramping.  Yeesh!

  • I cramped the first 4 weeks , I would run to the bathroom checking myself for my period , scared to death. Then when it stopped , I freaked about that too! So your not alone. Try not to stress:)

  • I had a lot of cramping with DD. Mild mostly, but very constant for the first month or so. Your ute is growing and stretching to accommodate it's new tenant. I know it's hard not to worry, but it's very normal. As long as you don't have sharp, stabbing pains or super bad cramps, you should be fine. If your doctor is not worried, I would not be worried.

  • Before I knew I was pregnant the first time (didn't find out until about 6 weeks) I was so crampy! I kept thinking my period was coming and that it was going to be a painful one. Seems to me like cramps are pretty normal.
