Carseat question

At what point did you switch from the carrier to a convertible car seat?  DD is 9 months (7 adjusted) and can't sit up on her own yet.  She's getting there, but falls over after a few seconds. She's currently around 17 lbs, and the carrier is just getting too heavy for me.  It is nice to put it in the stroller, but if we're just going inside my parent's house you don't need the stroller.  I just didn't know when it would be safe to make the switch.  Should I wait til she can sit up on her own because of the stroller issue?

My DD just turned one and we're still using the bucket seat but we leave it in the car now. Ours is good up to 30lbs or 30 inches, whichever comes first, and she's 29 inches so I'm researching the convertible seats. I wanted to use this seat until she outgrew it.

We switched at about 10 months old, when it just got to heavy to lug around with her in it. You can definitely switch now!

You can leave the infant seat in the car just like the convertible. That's what I do.

This weekend a couple times we just carried her, and left the seat in the car.  Definitely different putting her back in, since you have to do it from the side, but it wasn't bad.

Might be something I start doing for a while, plus I bought a baby carrier which I need to practice with
