What do you do when someone comes to your door (this does not include Girl Scouts or people you know)?

I always have this internal battle when I'm home by myself. Like, should I answer it in case they're checking to see who isn't home in the middle of the day on Tuesday?

LMAO @ "send my pet after them". i wish my cats were that ferocious. i usually answer and tell them i'm not interested. i need to get more mean though because some of them are persistent and sort of force me to hear what they have to say. i need to grow a pair and just shut the door in their faces when they don't want to take no for an answer. i got waylaid by some very zealous LDS missionaries while shoveling my driveway last february. i was like...can i please just shovel my driveway? it's cold and i have a lot of work to do here...

I also will sneak over and peek through the peep hole to see who it is. If it is a stranger or clearly a solicitor, I will quietly slink upstairs and watch from the window until they go away. DH usually will open the door when he is home while I sit silently and listen in case it's a crazy person.

I live in an introverts paradise and have never had a solicitor come to our door *knock on wood*.

I prefer to pretend I'm not home but sometimes I can't hide (like when we have windows open and DS yells "There's a man coming to the door!") so I just open the door and tell them I'm not interested.

I hide and pretend I'm not home. I don't like to talk to strangers, they might be creepers!

SS: I am kinda rural, we dont get door to door siliciting :-) but in the city I would talk with them if they caught me home and awake :-)

I'm also rural so it doesn't happen a lot, but usually I don't answer. If they've caught me (outside or my windows open) I'll talk to them. What's funny if I talk to them, as soon as my animals (cats & chickens) hear us, they all come running, so I could've chosen animals too haha!!

I leave frozen water bottles in a basket on the porch with a note saying I'm not interested in changing religions for the many Mormon missionaries in our area. I don't answer for adults with clipboards. I will buy ANYTHING from a child. DH has a love/hate connection with this personality trait. Cookies, candy bars, and pies from the school groups are awesome in his opinion, but he hates the wrapping paper, popcorn tubs, and coupon cards....
