1st Trimester

Has anyone used the Ramzi's Method??

So, I totally don't care what we have..boy or girl...although we have a girls name picked out so that would be easier.  ;)

I was on pinterest this morning and saw something about the Ramzi Method.  Has anyone else seen this?  According to this method, if the baby is attached to the right bottom or the right top of the uterus, you are having a boy.  If the baby is attached to the left side of the uterus..top or bottom, you are having a girl.  I want to get out the ultrasound pics from my other kids and see if it is true for them.  This has to be the first ultrasound pic.  (I think).  We had an ultrasound at 6 weeks and according to the pic and this method, we are having a boy.  I was calling girl until now.  haha..maybe I should be more open minded!  ;)

Just something fun to do I suppose...

  • @nikkitapli Sorry if folks are being snarky about this - unfortunately it seems to be a common reaction to some questions. But I think it's a fun idea too, and interesting from a research standpoint. All I really know about it is that it's pretty much impossible to tell from just the picture - you would have to ask the U/S tech exactly where to look, because it's actually where the placenta is that's indicative. And I think only the 6 week ultrasound is valid, according to the actual study.

  • well I didn't see the other posts and I kinda thought it was funny.  Not only will I be able to wait three more months, but I can wait till the baby is due since we probably wont find out what we are having....but thanks for asking.

Maybe I didn't come across this way in the original post but I kinda thought it was funny...do I take it seriously...no but anticipating and thinking about the baby is fun to me...

  • ...and...this kinda goes along with...'oh what you can find on the internet!'
  • yeah, I've noticed...and it doesn't bother me....I didn't even click on the pinterest post or look into it more...or run out and buy all boy stuff because a picture on pinterest said I was having a boy.  Just like all the other 'studies' and 'methods', it's someone's opinion...it's a 50/50 shot as to them being right.  I guess I don't take these things seriously, just find them 'interesting' and a tad fun and move on...and to clear up the '6 week ultrasound thing..' I had one at 5 weeks and 6 weeks and will have another at 12 weeks and probably bi weekly after that due to loosing a pregnancy at 20 weeks....so the reason some have an early ultrasound is bc of problems or to figure out a due date.  Sorry I caused so many issues so early in the morning....whew...thought it would cause some laughs and light hearted conversations.

    You mean, the disproven study?

It's actually where the placenta is attached.
well see...that's how much I was 'interested' in it...I didn't know the 'technical' terms and which part was to attach to make it a boy or girl.  I believe more on 'mothers intuition' and that 20 week ultrasound or waiting till the baby comes.
  • Wow, I'm hoping all these rude posts are the result of the pregnancy hormones...

I too have been wondering the sex of my 1st LO (who doesn't?), and I think all the old wives tales and other things are fun and help me kill time until I find out. But like you, I'm not resting my laurels on them. I'm super impatient, so it's going to be a long few months for me.

  • I love doing gender tests, like you (OP) I could care less what I have but it is fun to play around with. Yesterday I peed in baking soda, if it fizzes it's a boy! Nothing happens, girl! Looks like I. Have a boy on the way ;) haha excited to see what the outcome really is of course.
  • Nothing against you OP.  These post get annoying because there are literally two a day posted asking about this.  Just like those "OMG Im 5 weeks 2days and 4 hours pregnant and Im not throwing up all the time Im worried HELP" posts.

It always fizzes. So it's right 50% of the time.

Good job wasting fod for your own.

Actually, no it doesn't!! Haha my best friend tried it and nothing happened, she had a girl. Same with 3 of our friends. 2 of our friends had fizz and they had a boy! No joke!
I said the same thing, thinking it would always fizz.
  • @WhoCanItBeNow like you I thought it would always fizz! But I promise you it doesn't! Haha my best friend's didn't fizz at all, 3 weeks later we found she was having a girl! Did it for 5 girls at work. 3 said girls (no fizz) 2 said boys (fizz) all were correct! I'm sure it isn't scientific so a waste of food? Probably, but it was fun so not a waste of time. No joke though, some doesn't fizz.

Yes, God forbid people tell someone that they are trying to base something off bad research.

And we all know women are far too weak willed to think for themselves and are only run by hormones. Thanks for living in the 1950s. Get off the internet and get back in the kitchen where you belong.

You can tell someone that something is based off bad research without being rude and condescending. The hormone comment was joke, but thanks for blowing it out of proportion (and of course, being exceptionally rude about it). I was just hoping all the stress, discomfort, and mood swings associated with pregnancy were responsible for the snarky comments, and not the fact that being mean and patronizing is normal for you. Apparently it's the latter.

If you don't like the conversation, you don't have to be a part of it. Please keep your rude comments to yourself. Pregnancy is stressful enough as it is.
