Subchronic Hemotoma

Hey Ladies,

I am 9 weeks pregnant & have experienced spotting/light bleeding three times since week 7. I was told recently I have a blood clot but that it didn't pose a risk for Miscarriage. I still can't help but feel paranoid.
Anyone with the same thing or have gone through it before?

Thanks!

Re: Subchronic Hemotoma

  • I was diagnosed with a small one at 6 1/2 weeks when I had some minor spotting. By my 8 week u/s, it had already resolved. From what my ob said, it's pretty common and only a true concern if it's taking up 50%+ of the uterus. Take it easy and try not to worry. Hang in there! :)

  • I had a very big one with my son (it was the same size as the amniotic sac at my NT scan) and bled from 10 weeks until 17 weeks, spotted until 20 and it was gone by 24.  I was on bedrest for the first 3 weeks and restricted activity until 24, but after that everything was considered normal.

  • I had one and bled twice early on (6w & 11w).  I was on pelvic rest for almost a month, no heavy lifting, etc. & my doc said it would eventually resolve on its own.  Although very scary, they are more common than I thought.  Just keep taking it easy & try not to worry!  Wishing you the best.

  • Hey Girls, thanks for the positive stories! I read so much negative ones and people just running scared LOL
Even though my doctor told me not to worry, I worry. I've not had an easy go at trying to make a family so I stress about everything.
I never had these sort of issues with my first pregnancy. It was almost uneventful except for extreme nausea.

  • I think I'm experiencing one right now. I'm supposed to be at 7weeks right now. Went to the bathroom yesterday and saw what looked like bright red jelly looking mucus on my liner. I took it as a miscarriage right away so I called the Dr. and they ordered some blood works for me today, and again tom. They said it's too early to do an u/s. I'm still spotting right now but totally confused because not even the nurse can give me a definite answer if I'm having a miscarriage or not. My boyfriend told me not to stress out but this waiting period sucks. Hope all is well with you!
  • babyKaiden, it's a very stressful time and seeing blood makes things worse!
Are your spotting accompanied by cramps? If they're not, you may very well be OK.
If you have cramps along with spotting, I'd be more concerned about a M/C.
I had an ultrasound less than 6 weeks & saw a fetal pole & heart beat - that's nonsense not to see if there's a viable pregnancy!

  • I have one, the Dr found it today on U/S. I've had mild cramping and spotting for 2 weeks. I go back tomorrow for my Rhogam shot. My OB didn't seem very concerned and babies HR was at 150 :-)
  • I had a large one with my first pregnancy. I ended up on modified bedrest and pelvic rest for most of my first trimester. My daughter is now 4 :) Spotting can be normal and it doesn't mean its a miscarriage. I dont understand why they wont give you an ultrasound. 7 weeks is not to early to do a transvaginal ultrasound. I had one at that point with both my previous pregnancies.

Visiting from the 2nd tri - I was diagnosed with one about 8 weeks.  My midwife advised me to lay off of hard exercise and not to lift anything above 20 or 25 pounds, but other than that I didn't do anything special. Actually, DS is like 25 pounds and I continued to lift him.  By the time I had my NT scan about 13 weeks, it was gone.  They are usually no big deal, and not much to worry about.

I think I also had one with DS because I had some bleeding with him, but I never had an ultrasound to diagnose it.

    Good luck!

  • Thankfully, it stopped around 13/14 weeks? The blood clot is gone!!!! I'm happy about it.
