Anyone else with HORRIBLE sickness at night?

Does anyone else have what I can only assume is horrible indigestion during the night? For past two weeks now, I have woken up in the middle of the night miserable and very sick on my stomach. We normally eat fairly early for dinner (between 5 and 6) and I feel perfectly fine when I go to bed. I've never had this before. Am I alone? Does anyone have any suggestions to try and alleviate this problem?

I'm the same exact way.  Like clockwork, I've been waking up around 1:00am with severe indigestion. I've tried to change my diet to no avail.  I've found that it helps to take a tums and drink a glass of water.

  • I'm glad I'm not alone! I'll have to pick up some Tums and see if that helps. I don't see any rhyme or reason for any of the food I eat to cause it- there's no trend it doesn't appear. Thanks for the advice!

  • Tums are by my bed...sometimes i wake up two or three times during the night with acid spilling into my throat so having them there to chew helps a lot. I find if i have long gaps between meals or eat a small amount but am still pretty hungry then the acid is a lot worse.

  • I have been waking up between 1:00 and 3:30 AM regularly an throwing up whatever is in my stomach.  It's been pretty horrible...  I find that I tend to feel worse if I wake up on my right side or on my back.  Sorry, ladies.  One more thing....
  • Thanks everyone! I will pick up Tums when I go to Target later. I hope it helps! I appreciate your advice.

  • Yep! I was waking up every morning at 3am on the dot with horrible acid reflux followed by nausea and vomiting. The doctor had me start taking Prilosec every evening (tums were not even taking the edge off) and it's made a WORLD of a difference- I don't have to sleep sitting upright anymore and I haven't had acid reflux or vom'ed at all since I started taking it.

  • I'm stopping to purchase Tums and Prilosec on the way home from work!  Glad to hear that helps!
