I'm the mother of a 2.5 year-old and am about 8 weeks along with baby #2. i'm exceptionally tired all the time. normally (while non-pregnant), i have a "sleepy disposition" but manage to power through it (lots of coffee helps, too). but I had an early MC about about a year ago (8 weeks along). so i am not pushing myself with this pregnancy and am avoiding almost all caffeine. i'm also a little freaked out because i am 35 y.o. as a result, during this pregnancy I nap up to 2.5 hours a day. and sleep 9-10 hrs per night. this feels crazy (I have the time to do this while my toddler naps (she still naps up to 4 hours a day). i had a similar habit during my first pregnancy, but i don't think i slept this much. does anyone else do this? my mom said the same thing happened to her while she was pregnant, but i think she is maybe just trying to be reassuring to me. or maybe this is genetic/ body chemistry? i have low blood pressure in general and was borderline anemic during my first pregnancy. my toddler has always been an excellent sleeper. there could be a "sleepy gene" in my family.
i find this frustrating because i normally do a lot of socializing, have a part-time job and am active in my community. i still work just fine, but i have no energy for any "extracurricular" activities. i feel like a hermit.
FYI- i eat healthfully and do yoga a few times a week. this helps a lot.
Re: napping too much?!
Can your toddler teach mine how to nap? He's started only sleeping for 45 min during nap time!
Well I am not a napper at all, high energy person. I am exhausted everytime I wake up and could of slept 9 hours the previous night. I will get home and if not paying attention pass out for a quick nap. I I could take a nap pretty much anytime if I wanted to. My pregnancy has absolutely caused me to be a napper.
