DH restless when he sleeps. anyone else have this problem.

My DH is very restless when he sleeps. I've been ending up on the sofa a lot lately b/c he tends to knee me in my back in his sleep from moving all over the bed. I get so mad at him and i feel bad b/c he isn't doing it on purpose. It happed to me last night and it just makes me so nervous that it's going to harm the baby. he's just so much bigger than i am and i'm worring that him kneeing me in the back could cause problems. What do you think?

  • Indifferent How hard is he kneeing you for god's sakes?

And since you have no ticker, we have no idea how far along you are, but I'm pretty sure HE should be sleeping on the couch, not you...

  • I don't think that the knee in the back is going to harm the baby...there's a lot of cushion in your uterus! I would be more worried about you getting a good night's sleep since your body is going through so many changes right now. Maybe get a body pillow or two to put down the middle of the bed to separate your two sides...

  • I'm 10 weeks pregnant. He's not kneeing me so hard that I'm doubled over in pain. It's just that everything seems dramatized b/c i'm so nervous about everything.

  • Have your DH get checked out for restless legs syndrome. ?My DH has it and used to wake me up often kicking me in the legs/back. ?Now that he's on medication for it, he and I both sleep a lot better.
  • Yeah, mine has it too. I'm pretty sure he has RLS. I like the body pillow idea.

  • My DH has Restless legs syndrome too. He takes medication and it helps tremendously. Another possible cause for restless sleep is obstructive sleep Apnea, does he snore?

  • how's the temperature in the room for him?  my dh is like a friggin' fish out of water when it's too hot in the room at night...
  • babies grow in your belly. ?you're welcome.
  • He might have RLS, as others have stated, or it could be periodic limb movement disorder.  Both can be brought on by high stress or because of low potassium levels.  If it severe enough, there are a few types of meds but they do have some side effects.  Obviously if it is really bad have him see a doc.  If it is because of low potassium levels, have him eat 1-2 bananas per day and try to have a baked potato with lunch or dinner.  The potassium can resolve the issue if it is not to severe.  HTH!
