Finally a use for that baby powder...

With Memorial Day coming this weekend, I thought I would pass along a great tip for all you current mommies and soon-to-be mommies out there that I got from my sister-in-law last year.  When you go to the beach with your little ones this summer and they have sand stuck all over their bodies, put a little baby powder on them and the sand will rub right off :)

I've heard of that too, although I've never tried it.

  • @ebalkits - My hairdresser suggested it when I told her how my neck and back broke out when I used a dry shampoo. When I mentioned it to my mom, she said she used to do the same when she was young.

The trick I've found is to put a little in your hand at a time and sort of pat it onto your roots. I'll usually put my hair up in a shower cap and shower, letting the baby powder absorb any oils. Then I brush it out. It's still not a nice looking as just-washed hair, but its nice enough to throw up in neat ponytail for work.

  • Corn starch works too :)

  • Thanks for the tip! Just got back from the beach over Mother's Day, wish I had known this then, but next years trip (we go every year) I will have LO and will definitely have baby powder already on hand so it will be perfect!

  • If you have dark hair, you can also use cocoa powder mixed with corn starch. I don't remember the exact amounts, however. I think I read it on allyou.com. I mixed it up and put it in a spice container that I was just gonna trash.
