I went on amazon and looked at some of the top rated toys. still waiting for them to arriv, but I'm getting the baby Einstein bendy ball, bright starts barbell rattle, and nuby keys teether.
I can also vouch for the fisher price mat with the piano. DD loves to kick and hear the songs and music notes! It's almost like she dances to it. There is also a bar that goes over the top of it with things that make rattle and crinkle noises.
I think at this point, I'm more bored with the toys than Elise is. I'm going to have to be picky about what we buy, too, since our condo is small and space is at a premium. She's not actually grabbing anything yet (at 8 weeks), so I'm going to wait a little to get her any more toys. I'm bookmarking this thread, though, for ideas!
DS loves the piano play mat!!! I have to move him away from it so he won't get over stimulated.
Another reason I like it is because it will grow with him, When he starts sitting up, the piano can be laid flat on the floor and he can play with his hands.

2 months may still a bit young for this toy but soon enough she'll enjoy it. This type of toy was the first toy DS could play with because it was easy for him to grasp.
@Kacie I've been thinking about the octotunes but I've heard it's pretty hard to make the sounds, like you need to squeeze hard and just right. A lot of people say it's to hard for a baby. What are your thoughts?
Baby #1: Nixson Thomas - Born 3/11/14 @ 4:32pm, 7lbs 10oz, 21.5"
Baby #2: Emma Haley - Born 7/2/15 @ 7:09am, 7lbs 9 oz, 21"
Baby #3: TTC (hoping for a due date of spring / summer 2017)
Heh, my LO is still pre-toy. No grabbing yet here ..... looking forward to the rattle stage though! We have a bunch of rattles and ring toys and stuffed animals with crinkly bits and bits to chew on.
I try with a rattle every day but so far he just watches it ....

yes. for a baby it would be hard. you just squish the arm and it kinda... honks? lol it's really hilarious to play songs on. Maybe that's what they mean by just right. because to "play" a song you have to be quick and it's awkward.
*for parents that are bored - i seriously think this is great... but baby won't be able to entertain themselves solo for a while*
here is a perfect example of why I find it so entertaining:

Re: Baby toy recommendations
I get way more enjoyment out of the octotunes than she does. But she likes looking at it.
