Opinions on baby name...

I'm expecting a baby girl in October and am leaning towards the name Brenna Rose.  DH and I both have extremely common names- like top ten every year for the last half century common names.  So I was reading lists of baby names and came across Brenna and thought awesome!  Not common but not strange and very pretty!  Rose is from our grandmothers, I had one named Rosie, he had one named Rosa.
BUT, when I told a few people the name they mostly looked at me with a blank stare that finally morphed into the smile and nod.  Needless to say, that's not quite the reaction I was hoping for.  I'd love to get your opinion: Brenna Rose, nice or not?

I really like Brenna personally. Rose is nms but they flow nicely together.

I think you are expecting too much from people ( re: their reactions). Most people just don't care that much about names and are only asking to make polite conversation.

I had a student in kindergarten named Brenna who was so sweet. She's probably in high school now. Only one I've known. I like it.

It's ok. There are far worse out there!! It's too close to Brenda for me which is NMS at all!!

I think it's kinda plain but its spelled correctly and not strange.

I agree with Helena about the reaction. I like Brenna--it's not a favorite, but it's not out there. It's a favorite name for DH. Brenna Rose sounds lovely. Congrats.

Thanks ladies!  And do I agree with Helena for the most part, but all the grandparents reacted this way.  I was expecting a bit of enthusiasm from them at least...  My MIL has started sounding excited about it in the week or so since we told her, I guess she just had to think about it!  Maybe for her- someone named Sarah Susan, who named her sons Brian and Andrew, something out of the norm threw her for a loop!

I like it. It's not something I would choose personally but it's pretty and uncommon. I agree not to put to much into reactions. That's why I don't share the final name decision until its written on the birth certificate cuz then I won't get the "wouldn't you wanna go with something more like this....."

I like it and it is on my list.  More than even Brenda, I wonder if it will be mixed in with the rising popularity of similar sounding names like Brynn and Emma..?

Brenna is NMS, but it's a fine name. I don't think it's a weird name, so I don't get the blank stares.

I love Brenna Rose. I have a very good friend named Brenna and it is a beautiful name.

I think it's a perfectly nice name! Don't second guess your decision based on the reaction of others. The name is normal, easy to pronounce, spelled correctly, not super-common. You're doing it right. Congrats!

I think it's very nice! Brenna is neither too young nor too old, and I love how it fits with Rose and the meaning it has for you. I say go for it!

It is a simple yet pretty name and paired with Rose, sounds lovely.  I too agree with the above statements.  Limit who you share your name with! I turned to this board ONLY for advice.  Others can RUIN names for you.  I was left with a list of baby names mentally attached with some comment or a reason someone doesn't like them.

I really love the name Brenna, and I also love the name Rose (my great-grandmother's name was Rose). I would consider using it myself except I feel it's too close to my name, Brita (even though Brita is actually my nickname, short for Brittania). 

I say go for it. If you and your hubby love it and it works with your last name then by all means use it. Please don't worry about what everyone else thinks, it's your child and the name is going to be something you'll be saying everyday!

I prefer Rose as a first name, but I think Brenna Rose is still good. Nothing out there, though it may get mistaken for Brenda over the phone and in person.

I think it's lovely for all of the reasons stated above. FWIW I don’t associate it with Brenda and suspect that would fade even more with time.
