BF photo on Instagram

A friend of mine posted this on Facebook this morning.
The lady's Instagram account was disabled over a photo she posted that didn't follow the posting guidelines. The photo in question is in the story.

Thoughts?

Re: BF photo on Instagram

  • I was actually looking on Instagram the other day and following different hashtags about breastfeeding (it actually gave me some ideas for different positioning to try). There are tons of pictures like this posted and I have absolutely no problem with it. I don't think that picture should have been removed for either of the reason talked about in the article. Glad to hear that her account was restored.

  • A friend of mine in fb just posted a pic of herself bf. I am not comfortable posting a pic of myself bf but to each their own. I don't think it's inappropriate though.
  • I haven't posted BFing pics on Facebook. It is a group of random people: shoolmates, neighbours, coworkers, employees, family, and a few people I've never actually met that fall into one of those categories. But I have BFed infront of lots of people; friends, family and strangers.

I believe I've posted a few BFing photos here, but this is a community of moms with similarly aged LOs and many of us BF.

I have seen much worse (more revealing) photos posted on Facebook (breastfeeding or not).
This was a very tasteful pic in comparison.
  • I'm so surprised by the comments. The whole "I support breastfeeding, BUT:"

"cover up... Do it with some class.... I don't need to see it in public... Fill a bottle and use that when you're in public..."

I guess I live in a bubble. I haven't tried nursing on a bench in the mall yet, but so far when I've nursed around other people they've been very supportive. The only awkward thing to happen is my FIL and BIL clearing out of the house at the mention of feeding the baby. But that's on them.

  • It's a beautiful picture. How sad that it would be viewed as inappropriate

I noticed how old the kid was before i even noticed the boob. Not that it matters. People are too sensitive. #breastfeedingisnormal
