Re: Tell Us About Your Mothers Day

  • Mine will be tomorrow but my boys are taking me to bfast and then we'll spend part of the afternoon at my Gma's for Sunday family fun day/ Mother's Day. And then we'll come home to get some QT and RR! I don't know what DH is surprising me with yet. My gift came yesterday and he is actually being stickler about me waiting to open it!(normally he has to open gifts ASAP cuz he's impatient!)

    Happy Mother's Day ladies!

DH is drumming for our 3 church services tomorrow, which means he will be gone 7-1:30 and 4-6:30, so no visiting our moms this year.

Since he's tied up all day, I'm going to watch a dog competition with a friend. It's the big national competition for the dog sport my lab is involved in.

DH works nights, so we are celebrating today too! We went to breakfast, then the farmer's market this morning. I'm going for a facial and prenatal massage this afternoon. And we're having dinner at the ILs tonight.

Tomorrow, DS and I are going for breakfast at my parent's house. Probably spend the afternoon out there too since DH will be sleeping. Then we'll come home for a family dinner before DH goes to work.

    Happy Mother's Day everyone!

  • I'm a FTM so I am not really counting this Mother's Day for me. Next year, my birthday will fall on Mother's Day so I already told DH to be prepared to spoil me extra! :-) happy Mother's Day everyone!

  • I wasn't expecting anything but my husband brought me some cake this morning since I'll be spending tomorrow with my side of the family which was really nice of him.

  • DH's side of the family is taking his mother out to lunch tomorrow. We're eating super late, like 2:30, and on a patio so there isn't as much stress with all of his nieces and nephews around during the restaurant's busy hours. (they can be a handful). DH will work for an hour or two around lunch time just making sure things at the restaurants are running smoothly. Other than that, I have no idea if he has anything planned for me or not.

  • Probably nothing great, my husband SUCKS at holidays and birthdays for me. He sucks. LOL.

Idk...I just know that MIL took DH shopping yesterday...and he says I'm spoiled. So I'm not sure what to expect haha

  • DH will be working all day and be home late tomorrow evening. I don't know what he will have planned for me on his days off. But I found out my mom is close to in town with a friend, so I am meeting up with them before they head back home in the morning.

  • Well, she called me at 2 am sobbing that her cat died (at least I think that's what she said), and I went up there to help her put the kitty in the box that she had prepared.  Kitty was 20 years old, so we knew it was coming.  Still, what a shitty thing for 2 am on Mother's Day, right?

Then, I got up, went to McDonald's and had a McGriddle.  It was glorious.

Yesterday, mom and I went to rummages together, so I consider that our "mom time".  She's on a strict diet right now, so we won't be going out to eat or anything today.  Bummer, cuz I could go for some cheesecake.

  • We started yesterday by going to dinner with my IL's. This morning I woke up to DS kicking me in the back, so that was special. :x Today we will have brunch with my side and have my mom and grandparents over for dinner. Sometime in between all this, I need to do my lesson plans and grade some tests and grocery shop!

  • I woke up to breakfast in bed complete with a glass of wine, a homemade card with DS's handprints, flowers and earrings, plans to go out to eat and then go to the zoo.

Oh wait, that was last year. Yeah, this year I got nothing. No breakfast, no card, no flowers, no plans.

DH made a big deal out of going to the store yesterday on a secret mission, which was apparently nothing. He's making a lasagna for dinner. I already had lasagna on the meal plan list for the week and all the ingredients on the grocery list. He didn't even come up with an original idea. He's prepping this early and I've already gotten about five questions on how to make it. His plan for the rest of the day is to go outside and do yardwork so I can relax in the house with DS. I don't want to be in my house all day and taking care of DS is not relaxation. DS is also as bored with being in the house as am I. So pretty much we're having a typical Sunday.

I'll admit I had my hopes up. I've been having a miserable few weeks and was really looking forward to doing something fun. DH set the bar kinda high last year and I was expecting something similar. DH planned nothing for my birthday or Valentine's Day in February and now I get nothing for this. My feelings are so hurt right now and because I'm not good at hiding them on a regular day, let alone while pregnant, I've been crying all morning.

My own mother is in New York having a girl's weekend with her two sisters.

  • Ugh, I'm having a downer of a Mother's Day, too. Didn't get much sleep thanks to a puking puppy and then had to clean up the blood he shit in the house. DH has put a call in to an emergency vet, but we haven't heard anything yet. This is the third dog we've had in a like fifteen months. If this sweet puppy dies, my kids are going to be so effing devastated. (As will DH and I, but I'm so worried about them.)

Oh! And our well pump went out Thursday night so we stayed at my mom's and came home yesterday when DH's dad could help him replace it. Spent $400 on the parts needed, they worked on it from 1pm until 10pm last night and the damn thing still isn't working. They went to get a new part this morning and are finishing it up now. Hopefully it works because no water really effing sucks.

Ugh. Can we catch a break please?

Hubby and DD1 got me a foot bath/massager, a new blender, and a deep pocketed sheet for our bed. Random, yes! But all stuff I wanted/needed!! We've had a fitted sheet on our bed, but with as much as I toss and turn...I always end up ripping it off the mattress. And it drives me insane. I keep meaning to buy a new one (with deep pockets), and I keep forgetting haha! So far, a very nice Mother's Day :)

I woke up to DD screaming for me, and DH pretending to sleep. He mumbled "happy Mother's Day" to me as I walked out of the room. I made them both breakfast while DH played on his phone. I then did the dishes and changed a poopy toddler all while DH played on his phone. I tried to take a bath to get some contractions to go away, but I had cold to lukewarm water and DD kept interrupting. Did I mention DH sent his ex-wife a Mother's Day card?

ETA: I'm now making dinner while DH plays video games. Saving this day is that my little man is healthy in my belly and DD is being super sweet.

  • This morning, DH and I had a little argument that turned into a big fight and I layed on the couch and ugly cried for like 45 minutes. Then I decided to do some retail therapy and wandered around the mall all red-faced and puffy-eyed while DS napped. I needed new shoes so I got my very first pair of Sperrys cuz they are crazy comfy and I also found a super good deal on new walking shoes. I've also been on a lookout for a pink necklace and found one too. And there was a craft fair thing so I got a sign for the boys' room with their name on it. It was the most money I've spent at once in like 2 years, but I came back refreshed and found DH in a good mood. We watched Bar Rescue from last week on the DVR and now he's at the grocery store to get ingredients to make me a treat(?) and we'll go to the park when DS wakes up from his nap, then Panera for supper. So it started out crappy but ending well.

  • DH magically managed to get up, shower, dress, get DD and go downstairs without waking me up.  An amazing feat as I am typically a very light sleeper.  They made me a beautiful breakfast of waffles with whipped cream and berries and bacon while I slept in and had a shower, and then served it to me in bed.

My DD was so excited to give me a card she picked out (and wrote mom all by herself!) and a painting she made at daycare, and DH got me a gift certificate for a pedicure and some chocolate from an amazing boutique that I have been craving.

DH had to spend the rest of the day coaching at a track meet, but he will hopefully be back to cook supper, and maybe we'll go out for frozen yogurt if my tummy isn't too upset.  A pretty awesome day, though I'd love an afternoon off sometime to nap ;)

  • Had a great day! Slept in till 9:30 and just vegged the rest of the morning. Went shopping for bigger maternity clothes (the bump is getting out of control!!) and picked up groceries for the week. Relaxed more this afternoon and then took DS to his race (pre-K 50 yd dash). Then home and DH grilled and we had a yummy dinner. Topped the day off with a nice, relaxing bath and a lemongrass/avocado bath bomb. And now....I am ready for bed :-)

  • dh surprised me with a weekend away:) I knew we were going - but just not where

we went to a lovely beach town and dd (4) was THRILLED with staying in a hotel. It was so nice and relaxing and such a beautiful place !!

  • I got flowers from my daughter (my mom ordered them). Then, DH told me to get out of the house and do whatever I wanted. So, I got a pedicure and spent some time this afternoon with my grandfather. This evening, I spent with my DH, DD, and MIL, eating pizza and having free ice cream. Oh, I forgot to include that DH wrote me a very sweet note praising me as a wife and mom. All and all, a pretty good Mother's Day.
  • My mom was sick and I didn't get to see her. I was the only one to tell my MIL happy mother's day (even though I was at her lake house with both of her sons...) DH says mother's day doesn't count for me until the baby is out :/

If it did count, it was a bad one. I was in nothing but pain all day. Lots of cramps and just generally uncomfortable. oh well. Hopefully next year will be better!

DH got me a digital camera that has more space than just our phones so we can take pictures/video of baby. I thought that was very thoughtful. His card made me cry.

This morning, we went over to my aunt's house and my uncle cooked brunch for me, DH, my mom, my MIL and my aunt. Then my aunt treated us to pedis.

I felt so grateful to be recognized on Mother's Day. I'm a FTM and wasn't expecting anything.
