Toddlers: 24 Months+

MrsDR1015

I see you transitioned your DD to a toddler bed.  She is younger then my DD - I was wondering how you did this.  Does she stay in the bed?!  My DD is VERY determined and i am afraid she would just get up and play and not go to bed.  Any suggestions.  When we move her we will change her playroom into her bedroom - so all her toys and her bed will be in the same room!  TIA!

Re: MrsDR1015

  • When we moved to PA, we just put her crib together as a toddler bed (since it's convertible), which made it easier. She does occasionally get down from the bed while we're trying to put her down, but we usually wait for her to fall asleep before we put her down, because if we follow the "drowsy, but awake" rule, she wakes up completely as soon as she leaves our arms and we have to fight to get her back to sleep again.

We also keep most of her toys in her "play area" in the living/dining room and keep only a small number of toys in her toybox in her bedroom.

  • Thanks!  I am not sure I am ready for this adventure yet, but we are going to TTC in the early summer and so we are going to have to face it soon!

  • GL when you start TTC. DH and I are waiting until this time next year, with the hopes of getting PG in February 2010. And GL with the transition to a big girl bed. I know that, at first, Carys was really wary of it. Now that she's used to it, though, it's much easier...
