Mother's Day Ideas

What will you all be doing for yourselves? I know a lot of you have family closeby, but for me...it's just me. If I want to make the day special at all, it's up to me. SO, does anyone have good ideas for any of us flying totally solo? I'm way way broke bc my student loan money runs out this month so I really can't afford a massage or mani/pedi all that.

I'm thinking about using my last $18 of Amazon credit for a bath pillow (can't relax in the bath bc I hate laying my head on the hard tub), a bath bomb, and a drain stopper bc my tub drain sucks. Will probably take a relaxing bath, maybe indulge in my first glass of wine, and do my nails. I have a giftcard from Kohl's for my birthday still so maybe go use that but shopping is somewhat of a rushed pain in the ass with LO so perhaps the day before.

The local zoo has free admission on Mother's Day for mom's who have their kids with them.  Since DD is under 2 that's free admission for both of us.  We're probably going, weather permitting.

Bf will probably come over and well watch a movie while ds naps. And possibly fool around if my parents decide to spend the day with my sisters.

Itll be like were teenagers again as bf pointed out. Thanks hunny.

I was going to meet up with my mom, I feel weird not celebrating her even though I'm a mom now.  I haven't asked BF if we were doing anything, I assume he'll want to celebrate with his mother. I did send a gift basket to both BD's mom (so she doesn't guilt trip me later) and BF's mom. 

Other then that, I'm going to find someone to watch DD on Saturday just long enough for me to get my yearly mani-pedi.  I might even get my eyebrows waxed just so that I get their shape back (so to more easily tweeze).

Also, my mom and I are going to look at shadow boxes for my gift to myself.  I'm going to make a shadow box with DD's first outfit home, the newspaper from the day she was born (which, by the way, has Blackhawks as front page news since it was the game before their Stanley Cup win!), and a little note from my grandmother that she wrote for me at my baby shower.  I'm thinking of putting something else in there but I can't think of what, maybe her first footprint.  This is going to be semi expensive, so I'm just happy that my state tax return FINALLY came in and I can afford this one thing.

I'm spending part of it with my mom, but I'm also going to take DD either to a movie or to a butterfly garden...haven't decided which yet.

@roxalot I did the butterfly garden with her right after her 3rd birthday and she LOVED it. I think we may do that. It's just really hot.

What butterfly garden do you take her too @jellybean529? I went to Mead Gardens while we were down there. LO is too little to have a clue but it was nice.

I'm pretty broke, so it'll be a normal Sunday for us. DS is at a really fun age, so I look forward to our weekends together more than ever before

As long as my mom and her mom are around, Mother's Day is not about me. So I will be going to do whatever it is they want to do, probably lunch or something at my Nanny's house. I offered to host a brunch but my mom said I'm too stressed to do that (she's probably right).

Plus, I've gone on a little shopping spree recently (returned a pair of earrings STBXH got me for Christmas from Macys. Merry Christmas to Me!)
