This is going to sound crazy. But put your hands in hot water and an icepack on the back of your neck at the same time. Has been the ONLY thing that has helped...
1000mg Tylenol, a Benadryl, and about five glasses of water. If that doesn't work I hand DS to DH and shut myself in the bedroom with the lights off until I nap for an hour, and voila, headache gone.
Lots of water and Fioricet in extreme cases. I suffer from chronic migraines and the OTC stuff doesn't always cut it. Dr said Fioricet safer than the triptans I take when not pregnant.
ohhh I had my first real bad one yesterday. Woke up w/ it and stayed in bed until 1pm b/c it wouldn't go away It was awful. Didn't want to eat b/c the headache was making me nauseas. Anyway Doctor said lots of water and more protein. I plan to throw in a diet dr pepper and some Tylenol xtra strength too, that's what seemed to help yesterday.
This peppermint + lavender "headache stick" is a miracle invention. Roll it on your temples and forehead and the pain goes away in 5 minutes! It's like icy hot for your head.

Don't drink diet drinks! The aspartame in them is very bad for the baby
So far have only had one horrible one but it literally lasted for 3 days. Thankfully it was over a weekend and a Monday which is my day off or I would've had to call out of work. I called my doctor and he was very clear: only Tylenol and a cup of coffee (caffeine) are safe. Everything else is a question mark regarding effects on the pregnancy so the risk is not advised.
I have the worst sinuses- even had surgery last year- and thanks to them I get the joy of Sinus Headaches with a complimentary Tension Headache. Best thing I have found includes a hot rice bag over my sinuses with an ice pack on my neck. Like many of you ladies I go to bead with the headache and wake up with it as well. Ugh- I hope we all get some relief!
You do what you think is best, but I wouldn't reccomend lavender to anyone pregnant. It can cause the uteris to contract. Be very careful with essential oils
I drink 1/2 cup coffee each day or more to keep the headaches at bay. I also stay super hydrated during the day (that is very important). Another thing I have found to be very helpful is the supplement Natural Calm (can be found at any health foods store like Whole Foods). The magnesium and calcium in the supplement really helps with chronic headaches. Hope this helps!
Caffeine has helped me! I hadn't even realized if completely taken it out if my duet but with nausea everything heavily caffeinated made me averse. My midwife suggested it Monday and it has helped, I just have one cup of black tea or a macchiato in the morning and remember your 8 cups of water! I've stopped trying Tylenol because it did nothing. Also sleeping positions that we're not used to can cause a headache or similar pain so try different pillows (I just got a Snoogle: wow). And Vicks vaporub on the back if the neck feels really good if the pain is at the back of the head
The headaches are the worst! I've tried all of these ideas you all have except for chiropractor and prescription. Maybe ill try out the chiropractor. I need some relief!

Just curious where you heard this?
I use oils often and none of my research has led to no lavender during pregnancy. Just wondering if I am missing something!
My OB said it's better for me to drink a little caffeine every day rather than take tylenol everyday, so that's what I've been doing and the headaches have stopped! Headaches can really ruin you're whole day!
I squeeze the pad of skin between my thumb and index finger. While pinching tightly, I can feel the soft pain in the hand pad and not in my head. Sort of an odd trick of the senses. I pinch one hand at a time for five seconds or so, then release and do again. I've tried it about three times while lying down and can't believe it has actually worked.
My doctor told me a little bit of caffiene to help and it worked wonders yesterday. I have had a migraine for the past 5 days and I finally called in yesterday. The caffiene really helped. They also said I could take up for 4,000 mg of tylenol (that still scares me). And she said if it sticks around or gets worse I can make an appointment and they can prescribe me something.
