Cough home remedies??

This past week I was unaware that a client of mines house had mold which I'm very allergic to. I've been coughing consistently since.
I called my midwives but they don't want me to take anything OTC because I'm so early on.  (This is my first pregnancy)

Last time, a few years ago when I was around mold I was taken to ER and put on prednisone and a breathing treatment. Obviously that's a big no no this time around. I'm not AS bad as I was a few years ago but still coughing a lot.

I've tried vicks, steamy shower with eucalyptus oil, hot and sour soup, non caffeine teas etc.

Anyone have any other remedies? Tummy muscles and chest hurt from coughing so much and I don't seem to have any lose phlegm to hack up. :(

Thanks!

  • Honestly, I'd suck it up & take some robitussin. The regular is on the safe list.

Benadryl is safe, I've read a lot of women say they even take it as a sleep aid during pregnancy. If it's an allergic reaction this may help. With my first I contracted a strange rash on my legs while on my honeymoon in the Bahamas and my Dr said to take Zyrtec so it must be safe too... Or could have just been better than the steroid. And we use a mixture of raw honey, cayenne pepper, ginger and lemon- boiled.

I did a combo of hot water, lemon, cayenne and honey last night. That got things loosened a bit. Flushing my body with fluids too!

    Thanks for the other tips!
