1st Trimester

Sleeping Changes

I'm towards the end of first trimester. I'm not really showing yet.  I've always been a side sleeper, but am noticing I've started sleeping on my back.  Is this normally how pregnant women sleep once they their belly starts getting a bump?  Also noticed I'm waking up to mild cramps daily.  Anyone else notice similar sleep changes?

Re: Sleeping Changes

  • Once I had a larger bump with my first, I had to sleep on my side, it made me short of breath to sleep on my back. I think I've heard it can be dangerous to sleep on your back with a big bump as I think it can affect blood flow to the baby, maybe ask your doctor.

  • You will need to sleep on your side. It is dangerous after a certain point to be on your back because of blood flow to baby. And also hard to breath for you down the road.
