Babies: 0 - 3 Months

was anyone scared when baby started rolling in sleep?

I am terrified.  DD started rolling like crazy last week and now she does it in her sleep and her face is squashed in the mattress.  I am going to get a video monitor tomorrow but just now I heard something on the monitor that I have and went into her room.  She was on her side but her face was buried in the mattress.  I am scared she is going to suffocate and now DH wants to put her in the bed with us so we can watch her closer.  Anyone else scared when your baby started rolling in their sleep?

  • Mine isn't really rolling yet, but that terrifies me too.  He rolled from his back to side yesterday for the first time and now I am scared he will roll face first into the bumper, which is why I should probably take it out.

  • mine rolled to her belly last week... and I wasn't scared.  Mostly amazed.

    now I am nervous

  • I would think if your baby can roll into that position... they can roll out of it? ?I dunno.. that is just what I have always assumed.?
  • My DD has been rolling over for some time now.  Just in the past week she has started doing it at night.  I find her rolled into the crib slats, on her tummy every night now.  I hate it because all of the SIDS info makes it so scary.  DD can roll back onto her back, but it takes more effort right now.  I have woke her several times trying to put her on her back.  It freaks me out.  That said, when my DS was a baby, the common rule was to put them on their belly to sleep and never on their back.  He did fine.  It is still so hard to relax given the new info on SIDS.  I don't think waking them to roll to their back is the answer. Waking=fussy baby!  I hope someone else has some great ideas.
