Can I freeze breastmilk that's been heated?

Daycare heated a bottle of breastmilk right before I walked in to pick her up. She didn't touch it. Can I stick it in the freezer for later use?

It was freshly expressed on Monday, never previously frozen.

She won't be going back to daycare until Friday. I don't feel comfortable just leaving it in the fridge until then, but I was thinking that freezing it straight away would stop any bacteria growth?

  • Once breastmilk has been heated you have like an hour or two to use it or you gotta toss it, as sad as that is. Sorry!

  • Can you give it to her tonight and pump so you don't lose it? I wouldn't use it after a couple of hours as PP said.

Thanks ladies! I already gave her a bottle this morning, and I'm worried that she'd be up all night wanting to comfort nurse if she had another bottle tonight (and essentially not nursing at all today). I just dumped it. Oh well.
