Please stay asleep. Please stay asleep!!

Oh my goodness this fussy baby thing is killing me. I'm sure it's a phase but she absolutely won't sleep. Day or night. Yesterday and today (she's 1 day shy of 3 weeks) have been horrible. She has been such a great sleeper up until now. I'm hoping this will pass with age. It's hard to tell what's going on with her but it seems she just wants to be held non-stop. Like I said, never been an issue before except the afternoon/evening fussy time like everyone else has been having. She's finally out and I'm hoping she will at least nap two hours. Ok, vent session over. Just had to share for a minute.

  • I was in the same exact situation and it did pass quickly! Unfortunately, it coincided with the day DH went back to work, so it was rough. She went from easiest baby in the world to crying every time I put her down. One day later, she is back to her normal self. FX it passes as quickly for you. You'll get through it!

  • Exact opposite here. The first 2.5 weeks were horrible. No sleep, fussy allll the time. She's 3 weeks today and finally the last few days she is mellow, sleeps and is getting easier.

  • Do you wear her ever? It usually works to calm them down/sleep. Definitely worth a try! :)

  • I do sometimes. I've been alone and my moby was in the car. Honestly couldn't even get out to the carport to get it. Ugh. She slept for about 30 min so far today. She's now sleeping again after 2 hours struggling to put her down. It's been 20 min and I'm praying she will give me one more hour. No naps is taking a toll on night time sleep. She was sleeping 4 hr stretches and is now down to 2.
  • At 3 weeks everything went to poo over here. My baby never cried ( yeah the occasional cry) but nothing I couldent stop .. He must be having a growth spirt or something , he's going to be 4 weeks tomorrow and it looks like things might be slowing down with the crying
  • We are dealing with the same thing! LO will be 3 weeks on Thursday. The pediatrician told us that we should expect for him to be extra fussy during weeks 3-5 and that it is completely normal.

  • She's been asleep for 3 hours now. Thank you Jesus!! Of course this is the first nap since 645 am but I will take it. I'm debating waking her up to eat so she doesn't sleep too long and then have her daily melt down at 7.
  • My midwife has told me it's the ' growing' phase. My dd was exactly the same, perfect baby, she hit two weeks and for the last week hasn't slept unless I hold her, even DH isn't good enough, gotta be mama!
    Hoping its settles down soon.
  • The 3 week growth phase is absolutely a thing. The next crazy phase is the fist wonder week. That happens at 5 weeks (you need to adjust for early or late births for wonder weeks).

I had to look that up, had never heard of it before. I'm glad I did. This is info that makes me feel like all of this fussiness has a purpose and therefore is much easier to tolerate.
