Trying to Get Pregnant

In-Law surprise drop-ins suck!

My IL's just left about 1/2 hour ago after "just dropping by" to let us know that they can watch the dog at their house tomorrow when we hang out w/our friends....they were here for over an hour!

And they require face-to-face presence because they talk so much!

Anyone else have this issue?

  • I guess things could be worse....but the great thing is, they only live 2 miles away, and when we finally get KU, I'll be knocking on their door!

  • If mine showed up at my door I'd have to either shoot them or move.
  • I don't live close enough to have that problem, but I love my IL's so I can't say that I would mind anyway.

  • My MIL lives 3 minutes from us now (just recently moved) she never drops in just calls all the time now because she does not have to pay long distance.  So I feel for you.

Sometimes the calls can be just as annoying as the drop-ins. I feel for you, too!

mine either and they live less than 30 minutes away.
  • haha FLip, I thought I was the only one.

What is their reason? My Inlaws well the MIL is a straight up selfish biitch. She wont visit unless I pay for the trip, umm yeah no thanks I will pass

I offered once to pay for them to fly down for DH's Homecoming from a year in Iraq, she said no she couldnt get the time off from work but we found out she flew to Washington state from RI to visit is his brother before he moved to Hawaii. Um our trip would have been a 45 min flight for her.  So I never invited her again.. She can blow me for real!  We have seen her twice since we have been here visiting, we took her out to lunch twice and thats it.  I wont even go in her house because she chain smokes.

is that a good thing or a bad thing for you? Would you like them to visit, or not so much?

Pretty much the same reason.  She's a cold hearted selfish ***.  And we haven't asked them over since they treated us like crap last Christmas Eve.

Def a good thing.  I can't stand them and they are not welcome in our home after how they've treated us the past year.

I guess I'll stick my foot in mouth and be grateful that mine are at least supportive and loving.

  • Yes they do... My FIL used to just "stop by" when we lived in Arkansas til one day he just showed up and walked in cuz we didn't answer the door and we were having sex with the bedroom door wide open.

Not only was I completely mortified but he stopped doing that... he called everytime from that point forward. We now live about 10 minutes from my parents and they hardly come over... Oh well.

  • I'm happy to say my ILs live in India so they can't just drop by!  But it doesn't stop them from having uncanny timing in regards to calling DH in the middle of sex.

My parents live 5 miles from us but NEVER come over unannounced.  But my parents kick a$$.

  • I have the opposite situation. My in-laws have told us that they have been in our town, but never call to see if we are home or drop by. We just find out weeks later that they were 5 minutes from our house. They basically want an engraved invitation. I just feel like, "hey it's your son's house, just stop by!"

Who knows though, I might feel differently if they were always here.
