reccomed baby sun block/screen

cannot recall which it is to avoid/use & sucessfully avoided needing it last year since LOs stroller had a huge cannopy. Now that she is loving going outside for actual walks, need reccomendations because hiding her below her stroller sun shade isn't going to last much longer.

Thank you in advance! (bonus if the stuff is unscented & isn't greasy)

  • We used the Neutragena Pure & Free Baby last year, and it seemed to work well enough.  I use their sunscreen for myself because I have super sensetive skin, which is why I picked it for DD.

I think that the ones that you want are the physical blocks that have zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide, and you want to avoid the chemical ones that are absorbed into the skin.

I've tried think baby and bear sunscreen. The think baby is what we selected after reviewing the EWGs report on the safer sunscreens and checking what we could buy on Amazon. Bear is the brand we picked up at whole foods when we were in a rush. I didn't really notice a difference between these sunscreens and others we have used in the past. It seemed to work well but we didn't use it that much last year.

ETA - it was badger not bear brand.

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • We use neutrogena pure and free baby faces too.
  • We use blue lizard sunblock. It is not waterproof though. For swimming we use babyganics.
  • We use babyganics, its unscented and not greasy. It is thick though since it sits on the skin and hard to rub in.
  • We use badger. DD has sensitive skin and it seems to work well. It can get somewhat greasy when its warm out.

  • I liked Babyganics last year, and I just bought some Honest to try this year. I've also used Alba and like it, but it's more expensive.

  • We got both Badger Baby and California Baby. If I remember correctly, we liked the Badger one more - thought it was less greasy - but it has less water resistance, so it was nice to have both on hand.

I second (third?) the recommendation to check out the EWG info on sunscreen.

This site was also REALLY helpful. It's an outline of the issues surrounding sunblocks/screens and a great review of a number of sunblocks based on:

Did anyone get a sunburn? EWG Safety Rating? Stays on in water? Repels water? Stings eyes? Greasy or creamy? Rubs in well?Separates?Forms visible barrier?Scent?Skin reaction?Inclusion of antioxidants?Nano vs. micronized minerals?
  • Thanks everyone!
