Coraline

Don't know the sex yet, but I've been crushing on the name Coraline (nn Cora) lately for if we have a girl. DS is Ronan.

  • I like Coraline.

  • Coraline is just OK for me.

It's a nice -sounding name, and I like Cora, but I am not crazy about the story behind the name (how it was orig supposed to be Caroline, but author made a typo).

    Prefer Coralie.

I agree, even though the bolded makes me a little sad.  I prefer for the names I like to have more history than this, but I do love the way Coraline sounds.  Actually, my ear prefers Coraline over Caroline.

  • I really like it the sound of it. I prefer it over Caroline or Coralie.   The book/movie is what first drew my attention to this name, but it's also what turned me off since I found the movie kind of creepy.

I'm trying to remember where I read it so I can link it, but I read a name article that explained Coraline actually has more history than that, it was a name long before the author made his "mistake".

I know it isn't a real name, but in this case I don't care because of it being beautiful and awesome. I love it.
All of this! I love it and honestly as a book worm I love that little bit of history on the name.

  • I love it.  What book is it from?  My friend used it for her adorable DD.  Her DH is French so I assumed it has French roots.

  • I love coralie! It's one of the names we are considering but probably won't use because it's too close to our other DD Rosalie
