It's a nice -sounding name, and I like Cora, but I am not crazy about the story behind the name (how it was orig supposed to be Caroline, but author made a typo).
Prefer Coralie.

I agree, even though the bolded makes me a little sad. I prefer for the names I like to have more history than this, but I do love the way Coraline sounds. Actually, my ear prefers Coraline over Caroline.
I really like it the sound of it. I prefer it over Caroline or Coralie. The book/movie is what first drew my attention to this name, but it's also what turned me off since I found the movie kind of creepy.

I'm trying to remember where I read it so I can link it, but I read a name article that explained Coraline actually has more history than that, it was a name long before the author made his "mistake".
Re: Coraline
Coraline is just OK for me.
