I don't really like that worlds toughest job interview video that's going viral. And I don't really think I have the worlds toughest job. Hard, yes. Hardest in the world, ehhh I don't know about that.
I can't stand it. Emotionally manipulative crap designed to SELL YOU CARDS. Come on. Although, I put off watching it for a while because I thought it was going to be some working mom vs SAHM crap and I ain't got no time for that . So that was a relief. ;-)

And I agree that it isn't that hard. People need to get a grip. Although it did make me want to give MY mom a hug.

I've been saving it all week! Haha.
I don't even bother trying to save them anymore. Clearly my brain stopped working the minute I got this BFP. Which is a shame since it had JUST started working again. oh well, at least I have good hair!

and it really ticked me off how it just said "its a mom"
What about dads? There are plenty of SAHDs and single dads out there doing more work than moms are. I would be hacked if I were one of those guys

I started to go down the "what about dads?" road, but then remembered... there's plenty of time to make another video to sell father's day cards. ;-)
It's ridiculous when people use their foot to flush public toilets. Guess what: you have to touch the latch when you exit the stall that a million other dirty hands have touched before you. I don't think you're saving yourself a lot of germs by flushing with your foot. You're just adding new germs from the floor. Thanks for that.
Also, aren't you washing your hands when you're done anyhow??
I'm sick to death of this "everyone gets a trophy" mentality. Look at me, I wiped my own ass now give me an award. How about being intrinsically motivated? Not everyone gets an award. That's life. Society is becoming full of helpless individuals who were raised by parents who "didn't want to hurt his/her feelings". Let your kids fail at something! It's what life is all about. If you raise them properly, they'll be resilient!
Ah, rant over!
Yessssss. Have you read The Narcissism Epidemic? Great book.

yeah, like the football team in mankato MN who just refused to practice because they didn't like the school's decision to reinstate the coach who was wrongfuly terminated after being falsely accused of something... they wanted to play for the interim coach instead.
Um, last time I checked you didn't get to pick the coach you play for. Or your boss. Perhaps you should hand in your football scholarship if you don't feel like practicing...

People do this?! Whaaaat? Everyone (women) sit down to pee, and wash your hands afterwards. It's not that friggin hard.

I guarantee that that $5 you handed the cashier for your coffee was germier than that flusher!

I take the video for what it is... Cute. I saw it and thought it was sweet. It doesn't have to be more than that or include dads etc. I saw it as just a cute video. I don't think they were trying to be life changing or thought provoking they were just trying to sell greeting cards as JSS said. .... I guess that's my UO haha
Yeah, I wasn't insulted by the video....just made me think about how all consuming parenthood is, and we all just do it. Doesn't mean anyone is looking for a reward, but it's okay to acknowledge that being a parent can be tough.

^^ I just heard about this on the radio this morning, and all I could think was "what a bunch of entitled brats"

I avoid public restrooms at all cost unless its an extreme emergency but when I have to go, I foot flush, use tissue to open the door, wash my hands and then I use a paper towel to open the door.

While I completely agree with the original sentiment of this UO and think that there is way too much coddling going on nowadays, I'm not sure the Mankato situation is the best example. The school did not reinstate the coach, the arbitrator made them. There's a lot more to the story than them just deciding not to practice. And in a roundabout way, the kids DO decide who they get to play for, that's part of the recruiting and decision-making process. The whole story is a complete debacle but I don't think the players' actions yesterday were a result of them being entitled brats.
The toughest job video made me cry. Emotionally it has been the hardest thing I have ever done and I try my hardest to do my best at it and feel mostly exhausted and defeated a good portion of the time. I had never looked at some of the things motherhood requires of you the way that video described it. It is one of the most SELFLESS things I have ever had to do. No it probably isn't as "tough" as digging ditches or working in a coal mine. Or even the 36 hour shifts I have worked in the past. But there is a reason I feel constantly exhausted, hungry and overwhelmed. Because three small people need me 24 hours a day and I would do anything for them. The video was extremely reassuring to me and I loved it.

Okay, bad choice of words -- the arbitrator made them reinstate the court, after he was dismissed of all charges for whatever insane accusation was made against him allegedly having "child porn" on his workphone (ie, a video of his kids playing in the bath).
Sounds to me like those kids liked the new coach better and wanted to keep him. Good luck with that in the real world when you get a new boss!
@JSS1002 which is why I wash or sanitize my hands after I touch money. Gross! It's all gross! Haha
And just the other day you were asking why we all thought you had a germ phobia...
Agreed! lol Cece you do. You know eveything has germs absolutely everything it is impossible for you not to have germs on your hands. But yes no one likes extra nasty germs. But your too funny.

Do you work? I can't imagine avoiding public restrooms when I'm in an office 8 hrs a day!

Yeah I use a towel or edge of my shirt or whatever to open the door after washing my hands too. But not for all the prior steps unless there is visible nastiness in the bathroom.
A couple women in my office do the foot flush. It is a tiny 2 stall bathroom with fewer than 15 people who use it. I don't think it's that gross. But maybe I'm giving my coworkers too much credit!

Our bathrooms at work get cleaned twice a day which is a lot more than I can say for my bathrooms at home! Granted, there's fewer people using them, but these babies are spotless! In most of the buildings we have autoflush and autosinks / soap... not on my floor (just sinks and soap, but you have to flush with the handle)
I'm cracking up! Listen, I am fully aware of my germ phobia, I just need to embrace it at this point. @JBDamonM Of course, If I have to go, I go.
To clarify, if it's one of those cylinder flushers, I use my foot. If it looks like a normal toilet like at home, depending on the cleanliness factor, I either use my hand or a piece of toilet paper to flush.
I live quiet comfortably in the outside world (I know that's hard to believe ) lol, I just try not to touch anything I don't really need to. I have to say I was never this bad before having LO. I was aware of germs but I was the girl sitting on the NYC penn station floor not that many years ago. I think in my mind, steering clear of as many germs as possible goes hand in hand with keeping LO as healthy as possible. So if I can avoid them, great. If not, I just have to hide the fact that I am having an internal panic attack meltdown. Haha kidding
My concern with this is that it DOESN'T actually keep people healthier, because they aren't building up immunity... same with the anti-bacterial overload in products... freaks me out...

I try to avoid anti-bacterial products and think that the overuse of these products has resulted in the creation of drug resistant mutant germs, which is scary. The only time I ever use anti-bacterial gel is if I'm out and unable to wash my hands.
I agree. Mark Dayton (MN gov) is actually trying to have them banned in MN... not sure what the status on that is.. has also been linked to infertility and other stuff. I stopped buying all anti-bacterial products as soon as I read all of that.
