Levi got an x ray today

They did his arms, legs, and feet.  I think they may have found more tumours on his right foot because it the only thing that they took extra pictures of.  Also his x rays are being sent straight to the children hospital  which is hours away.  It's the best place for a child to have surgery, but I guess I didn't think about it being so far away.

The tumours that we already knew about are growing faster than they ever have also.  And I haven't mentioned this to anyone yet, because it will just cause more worry, but he mentioned that one of them hurt, and the is the main sign that it is malignant.  He has another appointment with his pediatrician soon so, we will talk about it with him then, and see what he has to say about it.

I am so scared for him, but I can't let him know that.  I feel like right now until he gets the surgery is going to be slow motion.  I don't even know when that is yet, but it still cannot come fast enough.

He also has an appointment with a ear nose throat dr to make an appointment to get his tonsils out.  It's going to be a long few months for him unfortunately.

Re: Levi got an x ray today

  • I'm so sorry you're dealing with all this. ((Hugs))

Try not to read too much into the extra foot X-rays. Just like a photo they can be blurry or at a poor angle and need to be redone. Extra X-rays don't necessarily mean something is wrong.

  • Hugs. I'm sorry your family is going though this. I hope you get some answers soon. I don't know what type of hospital stay you are looking at, but if it will be a strain on you, look into Ronald McDonald House if there is one near the hospital.

  • Thanks.  I do know that there is a Ronald McDonald house there.  It will be at least 2 nights for sure.  I just feel like it gets worse every time we do something to get it better.  I am being an Eeyore.  I am sure it's not as bad as I am creating it in my mind, but I feel like I am finding out all this information, and every time I find out something new, it just raises more questions than answers.

  • Hugs and thoughts to you and Levi and family.

I am a Radiographer and can tell you the extra x-ray probably doesn't mean much at all. 3 views (pictures) of feet are standard - and if we screw up and don't take the best pic (we tend to be perfectionists) we don't say that to the patient, we just say we need an extra picture... I would say the radiographer probably just wanted to redo a picture. Please try not to let it worry you.

  • I'm not trying to say I don't believe you doctor, but have they looked into these being osteochondromas? I have MHE, multiple hereditary exostoses, which is hundreds of osteochondromas throughout my body. They usually occur in the knee,, long bones, wrists and hands and feet. They will grow while the skeleton is growing and can cause pain when growing, pulling on ligaments and tendons. And they rarely become cancerous. I hope you get good news.
To my boys:  I will love you for you Not for what you have done or what you will become I will love you for you I will give you the love The love that you never knew
  • He told me that they are enchondromas, but so far, all he has had was an x ray on the hand that is being affected, and now these ones on the rest of his body.
