When will the almost hour long feedings every hour and a half stop?!?

I'm exhausted, y'all! My DS is 4 weeks old, and I can count on one hand where be has gone longer then an hour an a half for night time feedings!! It wouldn't be so bad if he didn't eat for at least 40 minutes!! By the time I change diaper, feed and burp, it's literally time to do it all over again!
Things I've tried:
Not switching breasts for 2 feedings (pretty sure I have overactive letdown)
Giving a MOTN bottle
Rocking
Pacifier
And other things

Anyone else dealing with this, or have any advice?!

  • My LO is almost as bad. He eats for about 40 mins every two hours. He's six weeks old and has been like this since week 3. Not sure how much more of this I can take. I'm a damn zombie.

  • We're in the same boat. Hang in there!
  • Agree about diaper change. I apply extra desitin at night and go from 12-6 without one. Keep lights dim. Don't talk to him or make eye contact. How often is he feeding during the day? Can you start feeding him more often during the day to maybe load him up with more calories so he doesn't need as many at night? When Henry was in the nicu and the next week or so he was on an every three hour schedule but as soon as he regained his birth weight I started this schedule:
    - diaper change to wake up if it's day, and Eat (about 30 min bc I'm breastfeeding)
-awake time if possible for an hour
    -sleep for an hour

Start over. So it's every 2.5 hours and I almost always have to wake him up to feed, except for between his first and second morning feed where he stays awake the whole time. You can adjust based on what you're doing I just wanted to give an example. At night I let him go until he wakes me up! If it's 445 or later, I consider that yhe morning time and start the day then.

Skip the diaper change! It's a very startling "procedure"'and takes time to calm down after. Pick him up at the first sign of hunger and put him to breast right away. Put him back down as soon as he has burped and appears comfy and calm. Change his diaper when it's been 4-5 hrs!

This! I put LO in a bigger diaper overnight and don't change after motn feedings unless I absolutely have to. Eat, burp, little more suckle to drift off, back to bed
