I'm going to leave LO on the boob...

So LO has been a train wreck the last couple days. I think it's gas and maybe even silent reflux (no spit up- just swallows what comes up and feels the pain). He hasn't been able to nap more than a couple minutes here and there. He's asleep on my boob and I'm thinking of camping out and leaving him on to get some peace and quiet. Anyone done that? And anyone have experience with silent reflux?

Re: I'm going to leave LO on the boob...

  • I've left both babies on and we've all fallen asleep a time or two. Sometimes you all need your rest however you can get it. I'm also a believer in sleep begets sleep, so helping LO sleep however you can now might help your cause in the future.

DS2's doctor thought he may have had silent reflux due to a noise he makes, but we've noticed very little spitting up and he doesn't seem bothered so who knows. Hopefully your LO feels better soon!

  • I don't have any experience with the silent reflux, but with my DD (9yo now) I frequently left her on the boob when she would fall asleep. There were even times when we'd both comfortably fall asleep. I definitely felt like she slept well those times and got longer rest out of her. Good luck!
  • I leave my little guy on there sometimes so we can rest. He is on Zantac for silent reflux and it's been a lifesaver!

  • When I side lie nurse at night and intend to keep her in bed with me this is what I do. Then I can rest, she will pull off when done/she's passed out
  • Psh I fell asleep with DS on the boob more times than I care to remember.

I haven't fallen asleep while feeding yet (it's still uncomfortable for me), but I have let DD. Sometimes she just needs a little mid-feed nap, and I figure I'm not going anywhere so no need to unlatch.
